TOPIC | How not to lose profit with skins?
So, I recently started a skin shop, and would like to earn some money with the skins that I make, but I one time made a skin and it didn't sell well (in turn making me lose loads of gems)

My question is:
How do you make sure you don't lose loads of money when you are releasing a new skin? If you haven't done any interest checks?

I tried doing interest checks before, I got no opinions.
Do you cancel the orders, if interest isn't enough, or do you just risk it and go with it?
Is one of the ways to do popular/aesthitic themes?

Or should you go with interest checks/WIP???

Most users will do preorders - customers will pay upfront, which helps fund the blueprints required for the print run. If there aren't enough preorders to cover the run, after a certain amount of time they should be refunded - it's somewhere in the rules, but since I don't really dabble in user-made skins & accents I'm not sure. That way they can guarantee that they are at least breaking even with the cost of the blueprints, and can list any extras on the AH.

@eearz Personally, I don't do ICs. Before printing a skin/accent, I make a preview on the skin/accent forum and ping the G.A.S.P. pinglist.

I usually don't start printing skins/accents until I have at least 5 people to pre-order it. Only then do I go and buy bluprints.

If the design doesn't get the required amount of orders, I'll either cancel the order or - if I want the skin/accent myself - print it and sell the ones I don't want to keep on the Auction House. There's always a chance of it taking ages, though.
