Welcome to No Spend August!
This challenge revolves around saving money to build up your vault!
There will be multiple modes in which you can complete this event, so you don't need to vow to not spend anything for the whole month if that seems too hard for you.
To reward everyone willing to participate there will be a small raffle at the end, and everyone is eligible to win, regardless of if they complete the event or not!
Badges will also be given at the end of the event!
This event will run from August 1st until August 31st.

If you have already spent in August you may still sign up!
As long as you don't spend after you sign up you're still eligible to be in this event.
My goal is to run this event every other month. Having a no spend event every single month would be fun, but then none of us would be able to spend anything ever! You can feel free to use the profit tracker on off months, though!
HOW IT WORKS
Joining this challenge is very simple! Just follow the list below and you'll be well on your way to completing your goals and making large savings!
1. Vault all of your gems and treasure.
2. Make a post here (make sure you ping me!) detailing which mode you'll be participating in so I can add you to the correct ping list. If you're going to join the custom rank please include your personal rules in your first post so I can make sure they aren't too lenient, otherwise you may be asked to change ranks.
3. If you'd like to use the profit tracker please follow this link. To use it click 'File - Make a Copy' to be able to edit it. You may add the link to your spreadsheet in your original post so you don't lose it!
From that point on you just have to try to stay strong and don't spend!
Try to make as much treasure and gems as possible during this month.
The badge you win will depend on which mode you participated in, and if you were able to successfully complete the challenge without caving.
THE RANKS
Below you will find a list of the different ranks in which you can complete this challenge. Please be sure to see the 'exclusions' section before choosing a rank!
Underneath the rank will be a list of the things you'll be allowed to spend currency on. You should assume that anything not on the list is not allowed to be purchased.
Easy
You're allowed to spend treasure/gems on:
- Lair expansions
- Sniping (AH/MP) and fodder for leveling
- Festivals (you may buy MP fest items and brew fest items)
- You will have a weekly limit of 200kT to spend on anything
Hard
You're allowed to spend treasure/gems on:
- Lair expansions
- Sniping (AH/MP) and fodder for leveling
- Festivals (you may buy MP fest items and brew fest items)
Hardcore
You're allowed to spend treasure/gems on:
- Sniping (AH/MP) and fodder for leveling
Custom
The way that this mode works is that you get to make your own rules; however, you're only allowed to make a total of three specific rules.
Some examples are:
"May buy 2 UM accent in total, may buy festival skins and accents, and may purchase food from the AH if I run out." Another good example would be "may commission 1 artist, may purchase 2 gem MP items, and may purchase 3 dragons that aren't fodder."
If your rules sound too similar to easy mode you may be asked to change your rank to easy, or consider lessening your rules to promote profit during the month.
The point of this rank is to still be a challenge.
Please don't make broad or very easy rules.
Once you make your own rules you may not change them.
EXCEPTIONS
These exceptions are on a rank by rank basis.
Please be sure to carefully read the list below.
Note: Everyone - regardless of what mode you're in - can participate in flight wide events like dom battles (profit and conquest), donation events, etc.
- You may sell dragons (all ranks)
- You may trade on the forums (all ranks)
- You may buy from festive favors (all ranks)
- You may donate to your flight's vault (all ranks)
- Festival currency isn't considered equal to treasure/gems. If you're participating in hardcore/custom rank you may use festival currency to trade for the fest skins/accents and chests.
- You may also use items you already have to trade for other stuff. As long as treasure/gems isn't used, it's allowed! However, you are allowed to convert treasure to gems, or vice versa. This isn't considered spending money.
TRACKING SHEETS
The tracking sheets will be used to keep track of your progress.
On the tracking sheets you will list what mode you're doing, how much money you started and ended the event with, and optionally how you're doing with not spending on extra things, etc.
You may edit your own sheet or change the format if you'd like, but please make sure that it's linked everywhere, and that all the important info is still being kept track of.

Personal Profit Tracker
I have also made a tracking sheet hub for those who want to use it! It's an optional feature. How it works is you fill out the form with your information, paste in the link to your profit tracker, and then your information will appear in the profit tracker hub! Its primary purpose is so that everyone has a convenient location where they can have quick access to all of the tracking sheet links in case someone loses theirs, and so I can keep track of everyone progress without having to scroll through the whole thread. It's also good for people who want to check out how everyone else is doing!
Once you complete the form all the info you entered on the form will be automatically updated to the tracking sheet hub.
