This is my lore girl Roselyn who will be doing the 100 hatchling challenge:
She has some lore in her bio that starts before the challenge if you wish to read it but below is the lore for during the challenge:
Roselyn had proved her usefulness to the clan once through her survival skills and found her place in the clan through caring for the hatchlings that came into her clan. Her parents were proud their first born was allowed the rare permission to stay in the clan and the family shared a close bond.
However, the clan leader Cerberus was growing tired of Roselyn's presence. It was against the laws of the clan for a family to stay together without a special reason and Roselyn had done nothing special to prove her worth. No mate, no battle experience, just the easy task of caring to hatchlings. Something several other dragons in the clan were tasked with before she had even been born.
Roselyn was trained and left to say her final farewells to her parents before she was sent off to survive on her own or die. However, despite her fate, Roselyn decided that if her fate was to die without her parents doing anything about it- not that they could- then she would at least leave her mark on the world by seeing off as many of her own hatchlings as she could. Though, all were from different males, they were still her children and she hoped they would do well in their lives... be more important than she had been.
Roselyn's first mate was with a Skydancer called Deimos. He has already nested once with a bogsneak that had since left the clan, which meant he was now open for taking in another mate. Of course, this wasn't going to be a permanent pairing between the two.
The clan's hunter wasn't hard to convince either. Not many dragons would approach him considering how new he was in the clan- and he himself wasn't much of a conversationalist. Together they had three eggs. Deimos didn't stick around to take care of the hatchlings when they hatched out of their eggs. It was something Roselyn was both bothered by and unconcerned about, which didn't quite make sense but at least his neglect meant he didn't expect this to happen again.
As for Roselyn herself, she couldn't watch her hatchlings most of the time either. She almost seemed to regret her claim to have so many hatchlings before being cast out by Cerberus. But they seemed to be doing fine on their own, they certainly learned how to be independent quickly compared to other hatchlings. Perhaps that would make up for their bright scales that would make it impossible to do anything concerning stalking or hunting like their father- whom had since left the clan finally- had done.
Aether had been Roselyn's second pick for mate. The pale bogsneak had also already had a nest with Priestess upon the other female getting a sign from the deity- or something like that Roselyn didn't care for that detail- where she would give a sacrifice of half her children to the deity. Aether had agreed to that strange request so hers was almost normal sounding.
In either case, after the nest hatched Aether acted like a fatherly figure to his hatchlings. He especially enjoyed spoiling the first born of the nest and eventually Roselyn became aware that the other two were being forgotten about just as those of her first nest had been. She never stepped in to fix that however, she was determined to make her hatchlings figure their lives out without her help. She hadn't done much with her own after all.
Eventually however, other nest care takers and even Roselyn's father would aid her hatchlings, after their father died of a sudden illness, while Roselyn herself watched from across camp. It burned her to finally begin admitting to herself that acting this way was only hurting her cause as to why she would be forced out of the clan but it was too late now. Her hatchlings probably barely even knew she was their mother... and soon they had left the clan to find new homes.
Her third mate was an older wildclaw named Ramil. He had many nests prior to coming to the clan and while he hadn't in a while Roselyn had thought he'd make an experienced father to their nest to come. His job to other dragons might counter act that logic but it was too late to decide against it and Roselyn soon had another nest.
Ramil wasn't necessarily a bad father to the hatchlings. He was just normally doing his job as the clan's beast tamer. He did however take their son under his win once he was old enough to teach him about the tasks involved in beast taming. This left Roselyn to watch over the females in their nest- from a distance naturally. It was almost like the time waiting to have another nest had caused her to forget what she'd realized the last time.
Ramil left Roselyn around the same time the hatchlings left. His job wasn't as important at the moment and at his age it wasn't practical for him to continue the dangerous line of work. Roselyn wasn't confident in the females in this bunch. While they acted independent it was clear they lacked ambition or the ability to try living on their own. Perhaps she wasn't sending out children who would leave a better legacy than her. But Roselyn wasn't about to quit on the one thing no one else in the clan had done yet.
Gohrvrytin was her next mate. He was a new addition to the clan and an odd dragon. His savage nature secretly scared Roselyn but she thought that he'd perhaps be gentler with hatchlings, as she had heard him mention he used to have some long ago. She had been unsure of his strange smile as he stared down at the single egg in the nest but at the time had cast it aside.
He was worse than she'd thought. Gohrvrytin had been a cannibal prior to joining the clan and had killed dragons for sport. It made sense the more her clanmates discovered about his background but Roselyn was honestly worried how it would affect their new hatchling. Due to this, she watched it with care in an effort to prevent her from disappearing due to her one-time mate's hunger or for any signs she was going to be like her father.
Worse ended up coming to worse as well. Gohrvrytin's influence and genes had ruined their child. Roselyn's suspicions were proven true of her sadistic nature when their daughter ran off. The next day Gohrvrytin left as well; chased out by the clan and leaving Roselyn to wonder what she'd unleashed in the world. Still, next time she'd be more careful in choosing her mate.
Roselyn's fifth mate was a bogsneak named Orion. He was a lonely dragon who had only mated once before with a skydancer. According to him finding a mate wasn't important; reading the moon and stars was. Only by learning what was to come and following their guidance would ensure a good future. Orion had come to Roselyn with a message that the stars had seen something powerful could come from a nest between the two of them and while Roselyn was reluctant at first- he was an odd dragon after all- she agreed.
The pair was soon on a nest of three hatchlings. Roselyn was pleased to see Orion doing what he could to take care of the eggs and hoped he would do the same once they had hatched. There was only one problem Orion had with the nest once he'd heard her story; the last egg was Roselyn's thirteenth hatchling. His alarm was evident and Roselyn grew increasingly worried when he began to go off more often at night to consult the stars. It hadn't been unusual during their nesting to see him do that a few times but now all of his attention was focused on learning what could come of the unlucky numbered hatchling inside the egg.
Roselyn of course didn't believe in any of that kind of superstition at first... not until the day came for the nest to hatch at least. The first two hatchlings, the daughters, had beautiful black and purple shades on their scales but the last hatchling, the thirteenth, had sickly green tinted scales and paled purple wings. Even his belly was a dulled color. Still, she felt the need to give him a chance to grow up and left them to Orion to see what he'd think. It was predictable however, that Orion disliked their son and cast him aside in obvious favor of their daughters.
Roselyn began to keep her distance as well due to Orion's influence and while she paid more attention to her other hatchlings this time around it was mainly to keep them from coming to harm by being around their brother. But it wouldn't last long. Orion waited until they were old enough before leaving the clan and soon after their hatchlings went their separate ways as well. Roselyn's hope in the future of her legacy and possible mates was rekindled from the caring- yet distant- bogsneak and in some ways she would miss him, but he had said the stars had called him elsewhere and so elsewhere he had gone.
~So I will be updating this thread with each nest she has.
~While each hatchling may not have lore written in their bios there will be at least a little blurb written here.
~I will be selling her hatchlings to hopefully forever/ long term homes.
~Some of her mates I find will either be sold or exalted so feel free to let me know if you want to purchase one!
~Let me know if you'd like a ping for this thread in general as well!
I believe that is all for now but I may or may not add more in the future
