From nearly since she was a hatchling, Rheia felt a calling to help such dragons, to provide them with a life where they could be safe. So she left her homeland, like many young guardians do, to pursue the Call, though she knew all along where it led her. Her travels brought her to the Tangled Wood, where she built a small, unassuming life and decided to lay in wait for her Charges. They would come to her, one by one, and she would give them a life where there once was none. Her path would be undesirable to many, but, to her, it was the purest goal of them all. Her Charges did indeed find their way, like lost sheep returning to the pasture. First was Sidivin, encountered in the darkness of the night. Then came the other two, the next of many for her to guard; a mirror with eggs she never intended to have, and those very eggs' indecisive father. Rheia welcomed the two, the mirror being an old acquaintance, with open wings, and so their little clan was founded. But all was not right in the Woods, and darkness threatens the lives of even the hardiest in Rhiea's little band of misfits. Danger lurks in all corners, perhaps even amongst their very ranks... Sure she, in her poverty-filled youth, stole a bit to sustain herself, but she has since picked herself off the metaphorical ground and found a career. Or, she had found a career. Things all changed in one night, and not likely for the better. A night spent at the bar with a smooth-tongued pearlcatcher her own age. Foolish, drunk intentions. In the morning, a headache wasn't all she awoke with. She lay curled around two eggs she most certainly didn't want. There was no sign of the pearlcatcher, whom she recalled only through hazy memories of the night prior. Scared, alone, and with two new, unforeseen responsibilities, Arkania fled her old life with a singular goal: find Rheia. She had met the guardian as an adolescent, just barely having started on a new career. They met at Arkania's job, and became quick friends before the guardian had to continue further on her journey. Before she left, though, Rheia told Arkania these simple words: "If ever you find yourself in need, come and seek me out. I will be in the Tangled Wood, this much I know for certain; I will give you a home when you have none." It wasn't as though Arkania lacked a home, in fact, she had a rather decent one in the clan where she was employed. But she was afraid, a tad delirious, and was dead-set on finding the dark guardian, whatever the cost. So she ran, as fast as she could with two, rather heavy, eggs. She sprinted away from the Shifting Expanse and into the Tangled Wood, hardly ever having the will to stop her crazed sprint. On the way, a guilty pearlcatcher, vaguely familiar, found his way back to her. She barely acknowledged his presence, nor did she tell him where they were going, but he still followed. Together, they found Rheia and, with her, a home. But things aren't right, for along with a home, they found darkness. An accidental misstep on Arkania's part saw her inflicted by a curse born of hate. Her blood, which flowed both through her and her yet unhatched eggs, was tainted with malice, with bloodshed. Only one of her children would live to see life, and in such a manner, things would continue until her blood was forgotten in her descendant's veins. Occasionally, he would respond to a local commission but, for the most part, he put his past behind him. Following a peculiar gut feeling, he packed up and left, hoping to find his eggs and their mother. He succeeded but the cost was great. Only one of his hatchlings will survive. Lorelocke Rules
Svh7LqW.png

The "lorelocke" challenge [as I have tentatively called it] is a challenge created by @fenshae. It is a hybrid pinkerlocke, nuzlocke, and legacy of war challenge. The unique rules, with a few minor modifications to better fit my playstyle, can be seen below:

Quote:
 • The starter dragon is the cheapest triple-basic common breed on the auction house.
 • The starter dragon's mate needs to cost less than 10k and must be purchased for this purpose.
 • The heir is chosen via coliseum - the last dragon standing survives to carry on the genes.
 • The mate for the heir can cost 10k more than the last generation's mate.
 • The final heir must be triple-gened, of a different breed than the matriarch, and pleasing to look at.
 • The heir and the mate cannot be scried together prior to buying the mate, but scries of the heir to inspect color ranges and speculative gene combinations are OK. Once the mate is purchased, they can be scried all you want.
Quote:
 • When a dragon dies in the coliseum, that dragon shall be exalted.
 • Unless otherwise specified, coli teams will be chosen via RNG and the venue will be one tier lower than the highest level dragon.
 • When an heir is chosen via the usual method in the legacy challenge, it will join the 'locke.
 • When a dragon reaches level 10, it can get a primary gene. 15, a secondary gene. 20, a tertiary. At level 25, the dragon can be retired from the challenge.
 • When a non-Legacy nest hatches, flip a coin for each hatchling. Heads = it lives. Tails = it dies.

Whichever venue they start in, they stay in for that day regardless of levels gained. Ending battle streak, fleeing battle and using potions is fine, refreshing the coli is not.

Materials: Writing
Write some lore for the 'locke dragons, update profiles or obtain art for them. This lore is in addition to the stuff written for the Legacy challenge.

[item=tanned rogue hood] ----------- Well, now we've got an apparel day? I swear, if my luck was like this when I was actively working on my ~actual~ pinkerlocke, my lair would be full of dragons and the thread would be full of art! Well, today's profits go to the crew! That means the 230kt I made off of scattersights this morning isn't going to be going towards exactly what I expected it to...
"Sidivin? Um, might I ask, what this is?" Rheia stared down at a heap of shimmering treasure, surprise and curiosity written clearly across her face. She didn't discourage her charges from pursuing the careers they had chosen for themselves before coming to her, nor was she all that shocked to find that Sidivin, the dragon whom she had been caring for the longest, in a giving mood, enough so as to donate some funds from his latest raid. But this much? The only thing Rheia could think of was "How?" Sidivin puffed up in front of her, a proud smile working its way onto his face. "The clan I made my most recent visit to was...particularly generous. With two new dragons in the camp, I feel as though it would be wise to provide some extra funds to help with things around here." "But won't they miss such a mass amount? This must be at least...200,000 treasure!" Rheia tried, and failed, to keep the worry from her tone. What good was providing a peaceful sanctuary for these dragons if they went right ahead and revealed it themselves? She loathed the thought of moving... "Nope! Tairinkain over there made quite sure of that." Rheia almost flinched at his words, but stopped herself short. She had to learn to expect this sort of thing from bringing an assassin into her company, but, such reassurances were little consolation; Sidivin's easy, unaffected tone did her no favors, either. "Well, thank you for your foresight, Sidivin. We'll save this for the next time we encounter some traders." Rheia responded with a much more even voice, this time. She would have to get used to things working this way, now that a murderer was part of the clan. This was her destiny and her future, and that wasn't going to change no matter how squeamish this news made her.
@Fenshae, a lil bit of a story today! And sorry about the lack of trinkets for your challenge! Seems as though your luck has turned around today, huh? @LadyIce @Pteranodon absolutely! I'm very surprised to get so much attention after one day, in all honesty! Thank you for the kind words :D
