Parents mill about the central square, coddling their young tributes. Nerves are high - the winner’s family is excluded from the next reaping for the true Hunger Games. You fidget restlessly, filled with far more excitement than is, perhaps, necessary. For though this event bears the same name as the far deadlier event the adults participate in, this Game features something beloved by all young dragons - candy. Yes, candy. Gobs and gobs of candy, there for eating until you pass out from the sheer amount of sugar running through your veins. Of course, you could also get knocked out by a fellow participant via a candy weapon, or a pillow. And from what your young mind had gathered, there would be other ways to get disqualified too, but who cares? You’re in for the candy. (And maybe bragging rights.) Above you is a large platform, upon which stands a very impressive looking Mirror, her ruby eyes glinting as she surveys the families before her. Though she’s smiling, she looks scary. You had heard that she was called the Director, though why you didn’t know. Maybe the Stander was more appropriate? The Stander clears her throat. “Welcome, everyone, to the 1st Annual Sugar Games! As I’m sure you’ve all noticed, the last few years the Hunger Games have been… disappointedly lacking in talent and bloodshed. Far too many tributes have died in the most uninspiring of ways - poison, falling into a pit of spikes, starvation…” She pauses for a moment, lost in thought, before continuing. “To remedy this, the Capitol has chosen to turn to its future - the youth. These Games will serve to identify future talent to help nurture into future tributes that we can all be proud of. And of course, who doesn’t love a good Game or two?” The Mirror grins, her sharp teeth glinting in the bright sunlight. Though she’s smiling, the other adult dragons in the room seem less than pleased at her speech, but reluctantly, they begin to clap. The same dragons who separated you earlier start to escort you out of the city square you’ve been in and into a large, nondescript building.
