Just a short note to anyone who's been playing the game so far.
The support I've gained for this has been overwhelming, and I'm so happy to see people really enjoying my game. I never really felt I really had my place in the community until I opened up this game and I hope this game continues for a very long time. Thank you all so much for everything you've done for me - in the end, I may be providing large prizes, but I feel so lucky to know people who believe in me and think I'm actually good at something. It's hard to tell who the true winner here is.
Enjoy the game and I wish you all the best of luck in competing for the grand prize each week.
I hope that I can make a lot more friends via this game and that everyone in the game will get to be better friends with one another - you guys are the greatest.
I don't know if anyone here has played around with the Open A Door forums.
Recently, in the Open A Door forums, I've been posting a story that's completely tied together - in separate parts when it was my turn.
I've received huge praise from some really nice people on that forum for it, and decided to make a thread simply dedicated to Doors game, but it's run only by me, and the prizes vary - there's no guarantee of a dragon at all. It's also all a story tied together.
2. First come, first serve.
3. Constructive criticism is always welcome on how I write and format my stories! 'This is bad writing' is NOT constructive criticism and you will be blacklisted from playing my games. I put a lot of effort into this.
4. If I leave you on a cliffhanger, no complaining or asking if I can write the next bit. It's supposed to make you anxious and hype you up - so you'll return to the thread and keep playing.
5. Occasionally, if I am unable to do this due to irl events, I'll let a volunteer writer take over for the week! You are welcome to ask to be put on the volunteer list, but you have to show me examples of your writing - I only accept specific people, as I am picky and really want the stories to be of absolute top quality. If you don't get picked, please don't take it personally.
6. Story suggestions? Awesome! Shoot me a PM! If I use your idea for the week's story, I'll credit you!
7. Prize donations are always needed and always welcome! I'm always happy to receive donations for prizes. I'll also always thank you for doing so!
8. Be fair and have fun!
Warnings:
My writings tend to be darker and do have violence often (not terrible, although on rare occasions there is slight gore) and occasional horror elements. Although I cannot stop you from participating, I am not responsible if anything I write scares you or offends you (as my writing occasionally can go against certain religions - not intentionally. What I write is NOT what I believe, and is strictly for the purpose of the story. I am not a satanist. Occasionally, though, I do have the use of satan in my stories as a horror element. I respect all religions, and this is not a personal attack on anyone or anything.). I do not cuss in my writings, although uses of the words Heck, Crap, Dang, Freaking, and other 'mom cusses' are used frequently. Occasionally I use sensitive topics in my writings that some people may have trouble reading - specifically animals being tested in labs, racism, sexism, etc. Many people have mistaken this as me saying this stuff is ok, but my writings are actually to argue just the opposite - that it's not alright.
Ask to be put on a pinglist for when a game starts if you are having trouble joining a game!
However, there's a twist.
You have to actually register a dragon to be allowed to play.
"But Ego, how do I register a dragon?"
Well, it's really simple!
You have to comment a dragon's bbcode and write a short blurb about your dragon's personality, and tell me what your dragon is most likely to do in tough situations. I'll add it to the list of registered dragons, and whenever you go to claim a daily option with your newly-registered dragon, you have to make sure to comment your dragon's name and what option you are claiming! (EX: Option 1, :insert dragon name here:) This way, the end scenarios are actually personalized and tailored to the dragon who claimed it.
Each day, I'll update with the next part to the story! Stories start on Sunday, and end on Saturday. The prizes start off small, and end on Saturday with something larger. However, there's one more twist-
Only a dragon that played earlier in the week can play on Saturday.
Alrighty! I'll be excited to start on Sunday!
Also, if you want to donate prizes, I'll keep a hall of fame open to people who donate! The more you donate, I actually give you stuff in return - dragon lore, character art, etc. When you donate, (I'm still making it) you'll also be pmed with the bbcode so you can put an awesome Donater to Game of Stories badge in your signature!
What I accept as donations:
Stacks of food in increments of 5, or full stacks! Food makes an AWESOME prize to the people out there who are struggling to feed their dragons (wow sounds like me and my Coatls lol)
Baldwin Materials make really good prizes too!
Apparel! It can be the cheapest thing on the AH or super rare event apparel - I couldn't care less - it's the thought that counts! However, the rarer or better the donation, the higher up on the hall of fame for donations you are - which means more prizes for you!
Familiars! Basically the same thing with Apparel (:
Battle Items! You can donate anything - whether it's a Minor Health Potion or that much needed Berserker to many!
Skins/Accents! Donating these is a super good way to help out. Skins/Accents are my favorite prizes to give out, and to many, they're fun to receive as well.
Specialty Items: I'm really not expected to be given any breed changers or anything (If you do though I'd be shocked beyond words), but Scrolls of Renaming are great prizes and very helpful to a lot of people, as well as affordable to those who want to help out but don't have a lot of Treasure!
Festival Currency! Please don't gift me Shimmering Pinecones in June - gift what the current fest currency is! It will either be used as a gift on it's own, or used to buy stuff at Festive Favors which will then be given out as prizes.
Chests! Rusted to Gilded - doesn't matter! They make pretty darn good prizes though (:
Treasure! I use treasure to buy prizes!
Gems! I use that to buy prizes as well!
What I don't accept:
Dragons. I'm so sorry, but my lair can't breathe, and I'm always impulse buying dragons. I never have room.
Anything obscure. I'm not saying I'm not grateful you'd send me a Brightly Colored Bird Toy, but it doesn't make that much sense as a prize - and I'd like to give at least a small familiar or piece of apparel to my players each time they play to keep them coming back.
I think that's the gist of it.
Pinging @Stormfly @MacKawaii @Moichao10 since you guys have been the series biggest supporters and thought you might want to see this!
