His torn fins on his left hind leg had been sealed in banadages to heal, but he doubted he would regain full use of them again. Getting up on his legs, he stretched each one and did small exercises to get the blood flowing, Once that was done, he folded his wings and peaked out into his clan. It was still early morning, and only a few stragglers that had been on guard duty the night before lingered in the Foxfire bramble of their home. With a shrug he moved passed the curtains of his den and approached the kill pile, snuffling through until he found a suculant piece of flesh and dragged it out, sniffing around at the fur to make sure it wasn't too old, and he scarfed it down without trouble. After another few pieces of meat, his belly felt warm and full and he could feel the energy begin to spread through his tired body. He was thankful for the meal, but another glance at the pile told him that their food was getting a little scarce. It was then that he remembered that his patrol had complained about fleeing prey. They mentioned a different energy pulse near the flash clan wall that caused them to disperse, and it was becoming troublesome. He decided that today was the day he would finally make time to investigate into this strange phenomena, and perhaps bring some prey home for Boxcars. With a salute to the guards at the entrance, Phlox wearily slunk out and into the wood, muzzle low to the ground to breath in the scents around him. Though the plague lands lay to the west, their musky swamps tainted the ghastly smell of stillness in the groves, and Phlox found himself stuffing his nose into the dirt more than once to clear them. He was not in top form today and he regretted every small dip into the ground to clean himself. Though the trodden earth smelled nicely, he needed to be more aware of the traces of prey and potential enemies. Either way, he spent the better part of his morning following the worn and dizzying paths carved into the land centuries earlier by his ancestors, until finally by mid-day he sensed the pulse. The magic in the air was a buzz like sleep all over his body, and the closer he got the more obvious to him that this was an intense overflow of lighting. Stricken, Phlox worried that perhaps the great walls surrounding Flash Clan territory had a hole and it was causing problems. Idea in mind, Phlox slunk about, low to the soil as he followed the source of the spill. ((I hope this is an okay start. if not, let me know. I am tired and so this is far lower quality orz)) @CavalloCavaliere

Rune stepped onto the dark earth of the Tangled Wood, the earth itself was sunken away from the Sunbeam Ruins, at first starting Rune to step back onto a bramble. Her squeak of surprise was that of a hatchling, high pitched and loud. She froze, her muscles tensed and ready to flee if any approaching drake had heard her, she would be wing deep in consequences. Releasing a breath and regaining her once perfected hunter stance she began looking for prey in the unbelievable thick mist that always seemed to shroud the land in mystery. The secrecy of FearClan had always been a double edged sword for Rune: on one hand she could never tell what they had up their sleeve with smug glances at gatherings, but on the other hand they had tactics, warriors, and passion-everything Rune lived for as a warrior herself. Lowering her gaze to the actual forest floor Rune spotted a mouse of shadow. It's eyes and whiskers seemed to actually glow much to the criteria of the mushrooms that dwelled here. Once again she began her steady advancement towards the little heartbeat. The mouse must have heard her. His ears perked, posture stiffened, and it fleed. She hadn't made a sound! Rune was sure of it! Today was not her day for hunting. Looking around she noticed the fog had receded... Only meaning she must have moved too far into the FearClan territory. Dear StarClan, it would either end in her capture and embarrassment, or her sneaking back to her territory. Rune took a shuddered breath and could feel her feathers sticking pathetically to her fog-soaked pelt. A thought then came to her: If I already managed to get in, what makes me think it will be any more difficult to get out-much less catch a few critters? With a possibly too soon sense of pride she trotted off towards the Driftwood Drag, famous for it's life. @ChaseTokki ((Shut up-this is like reading my favorite author❤ And since it is just you and I, I am not editing my stuff. ;b))

@cavallocavaliere ((haha, I am truly honoured that you think so highly of my writing ;-; thank you over the moon, thank you. That's okay! It's just for fun anyway! Last night's computer has trouble with commas and periods so they seemed a little sporadic. Sorry! XD ))

As he slunk about, careful not to drag his tail and let the rings make a sound, he found the source of his problem. A tree had fallen from Shadow territory and leaned against Flash Clan's wall. The weight of the mushrooms and the sodden wood caused the vulnerable metal to cave. The current going through this area to protect the vulnerable side of FlashClan was now being freed into the open air, making even Phlox's hide turn over with the desire to retreat. This was going to be a severe problem, as both sides were going to need to work together to resolve this issue. His heart panged heavily. He only hoped that his sister would come. He only hoped that she was too busy to come. Shaking his head and feeling the weight of his braided beard sway, he realized he would need to walk along the wall until it dispersed into light territory.

With another sigh at the burden he was about to face, he shook his horns about and fluttered his wings to keep his blood pumping, making sure his chill would not bunch up his joints and put him at a disadvantage. With this new goal in mind, Phlox folded his stomach frills tightly, and again began to slink along. Though some of FlashClan trust the sturdiness of this wall, he did not want to be seen lest they assume he was going to take advantage. It was going at this pace, in this manner that a high pitched squeal hit his ear fins. It was brief and quick, and so Phlox was forced to hesitate in order to figure out just what it was. It had not come from behind him where the wound in the wall had been, but before him. It was very light, so it could be a spring bok getting stuck, or a youngling. Though instantly he doubted a hatchling could come out this far... But he'd been wrong about that once before.

All the more cautious now, Phlox dragged himself carefully between sprigs and thorns, not caring if they scratched him for they were nothing against his scales, but the sounds they could make if too thoroughly disturbed. This approach took him much longer to reach the approximate area in which the sound had come from, but it also meant he would be undetected. StarClan bless is obsidian colours. He turned his head around a thick stump in the earth, rubbed his cheek against it once when he froze, and analyzed what he saw. Not only was it an intruder that he did not recognize from his home clan, but this intruder was hunting. In his territory. It could be a rogue. Fury so powerful rocked him for a moment, mind jumping to revenge and hatred like a spring trap.

He made to snarl, but held his tongue. He would make this pale drake regret their choice. He gleamed over their profile, and his heart thudded twice then felt like it stopped. This was no regular intruder, nor was it a dreaded rogue. This was Rune, beloved Rune, from FlashClan. What was she doing in here? And hunting none the less? His excitement at seeing her soured a little. Why would she hunt in our territory? His head felt like it would start spinning at any moment and he closed his eyes to clear it. Time to make a move. Ever so slowly he shifted, removing himself from his position near the ground and under obstructions to move in behind Rune, where he tested his weight on the ball of his talons. At the last moment where she made her way passed another tree did he pounce. Belatedly his mind wondered if he could really pin her so easily.

It was time to leave. Rune knew it as soon as she took a step onto the shadow laced grass. What had she been thinking? If any intruder had made their way onto her land with her prey in their claws she would've shredded them. Despite her size. With nothing to show for her possibly disastrous advancement Rune turned to slide back into her FlashClan home... If she knew where she was exactly. Curses! She even got lost. Fury raked her stomach and heat rose from her skin. What a fool she had been! How did she even expect to explain to everybody that she had multiple FearClan food items? Say the all happen to run onto the Sunbeam Ruins and into her claws? Foolish. A hiss ran through her snarled lips. Might as well follow her trail-if she could smell it. But no, of course the entire land smelled the same to her and after walking so far in it she reeked! Despite her chances she turned the direction she assumed she came and started that way. @ChaseTokki

It was as Rune seemingly turned to make a choice, looking about as if lost, did Phlox's momentum finally fall into place. She seemed uncertain on where to go, and it softer Phlox's intentions to a nice little start. He flared his ear fins and let a peeling roar of victory slip from his throat as he outstretched his talons. He landed with ease, legs wide apart so that he could land atop of Rune without hurting her or landing on her smaller size, and flexed his wings like great mighty sails. He wished he could treat her like a fear-clan hatchling, using a booming voice to frighten her off and chase her tail with snapping teeth, but he assumed his entire body weight dwarfing hers in a surprise leap would be terrifying enough.

"Well hello, intruder Rune. Have you come for a visit?" He proudly stated, very intent upon her reaction to his sudden appearance.

Rune was petrified, glued to the spot, and nearly forgot to even breath. It took her a few moments to actually figure out what happened in general. She had been finding her way back, then a huge roar had stunned her senseless. Her jaw dropped when she recognized not only the scent but the voice of no other but Phlox. She had only seen him a few days ago... Oh no, this was bad. Very bad. Her dazed look faded as she attempted to pull herself together. Her feathers were sticking straight up in defense despite their wet appearance. She probably looked about the size of Phlox when he hatched! Clearing her throat she began, "I am not visiting! I simply was looking for a stray rouge that was creeping around my territory and I was not going to let him get away without a piece of my mind! If anything I am helping you-you big loaf get off!!" She spat in his face and hissed attempting to seem as ferocious as possible. It was a long shot if he even believed her story. By the way he pounced he must have been watching at least for a little while... @Chasetokki (This is getting good!!)

Witnessing Rune spitting and arching her tail made Phlox's efforts to startle her worth while, and a smile crept onto his face as he noticed many more details. Her feathered cowl and wings were dripping from the fog and dew, and Phlox's chest was hit with a severe wave of nostalgia. It had only been three or four days ago since they had last seen each other, and yet it was only now, in this moment where here cheeks and jaw were flexed for snarling, feathers quivering though they looked smaller when wet, that he had truly missed her. She had been cold yet she had allowed him to shelter her beneath his wings. The words they shared had been sweet and testy, and the fire in Rune's personality had obviously stayed strong.

Boy, had he missed her. It was remembering these things that his reverie distracted him for Rune's words, before they hit home and hard. "A rogue?" He uttered sharply, breathing in to pull in the scents around him. Though it was crisper here, farther from Plague lands, he couldn't find the scent other than from Rune herself and a few mice and squirrels. His nostrils flared in frustration. "There have been too many coming into our territory." He glanced to Rune as he stepped up and over her so she could stand assertively herself.

"Since you have committed to this task enough to trespass, I'll let you leave on the condition that we hunt this fiend together. You can have my honour on that." He finished, looking down at Rune in seriousness, bu almost pleadingly as well. Rogues will be dealt with he swore.

@CavalloCavaliere ((Ahhhh, that it issss. Rune is just so adorable to me, I hope she won't be too mad!))

"...Together? We hardly know where he could be now..." Rune cringed she shouldn't have lied to the deputy muchless a potential... Friend? "Plus you are obviously in no state to be hunting a possibly already escaped rouge." Would that convince his stubborn state of mind? Rune allowed her posture to calm along with her ruffled feathers. Why was she so damned nervous around Phlox? Her facial expression softened at the sight of his brutally wounded fins that looked more than slightly painful. Then again, he had a hide built to last any test it was put up against. Rune took a step closer to Phlox so she could intake his scent and he could hers. "I think he might be gone already since I got lost here... You are in no condition. Just show me the way back and I will be gone." She felt like thousands of ants had crawled into her pelt, his entire aura made her feel electric with goosebumps. @ChaseTokki ((Rune is a silly butt with too much fire. :b))

Phlox glanced about, actually shifting around and shoving his muzzle this way and that to try and track a scent. He leapt up to a spot with tracks and growled softly when he realized it was only prey tracks. He glanced left and leapt there to scent the torn bark, but it was only a porcupine grooming mark and it was days old. As hard as he tried, there was only a musk of the land and beautiful, little Rune. He cussed loudly and slashed his tail in frustration, hanging his head and limp fins.

"I cannot believe I have failed my oath a second time, so soon.." He murmurs weakly, his fire calming as his priorities re-aligned themselves. He politely approached Rune and bowed his head briefly in a sign of an apology. "Well thank you for the warning regardless. I am a Deputy, and as such I must do everything capable of my body to protect my clan." He recited carefully, hoping it would not feel like he was trying to show Rune up in any way. "I will be glad to assure your safety to the border. If you'd follow me?" Phlox asked, using his tail to indicate the path she would have missed had he not indicated it.

Even though Phlox had indicated the way she would take to get back she just stood in place. Had he really thought he failed? Twice! She should tell him, but he would be furious possibly even violent towards her. Why had Rune lied in the first place-oh yes to save her hide being shred. In all honesty she just wanted to enfold herself in him, enrich herself with his scent, forget their responsibilities. "There was no rouge... I just didn't want you to attack me-I-I was scared and I am ever so foolish to do this to you!" Tears of frustration clouded her gaze, "I care so much about you and I didn't want you to think poorly of me..." Her speech may have been strong in some parts, but once again she was showing her weakness to a rival deputy. She was so irked by her own actions. Rune then turned towards the indicated path she had chosen and raced for the trail. She wanted nothing more than to fade from his sight and stay as far from FearClan from now on. Within her self pity she miss-stepped on a waterlogged stump in a lazy stream and felt a sharp pain in her front right wrist as it twisted awkwardly. Falling into mud she hissed and went to jump back up when pain shot threw her leg. Luckily her foot had gotten back to it's rightful place but the pain remained. @ChaseTokki ((She turns into a wet noodle with Phlox))
