She slowed her rushing flight for moment, earning a questioning, confused squeak from the child she carried in her claws, close to her heavily plated chest. Rubbing her thumb gently over the sparse, golden fur on top of the child’s head, Aiea tried to reassure him that everything was okay. It didn't help, Donohtha, the child she carried with more care than anyone else would ever get from her, lifted his head, blinked confused up at her. Or generally at the sky. His eyes were milky and pale, a blind haze of blue, he could not see the desert beneath them, the copper wires and pipes that snaked their way through the sand, nor could he see the low hanging clouds, with their intimidating dark color and bellies full with lightning and rain. “Auntie?”, he chirped when Aiea still didn't moved on, remained in the air like a cloud in the shape of a Guardian. She bite her lip, so hard that she could taste blood on her tongue. Now that she was thinking about this, it was not a good idea, not at all. Torn between moving on and retreating back into the Wastelands, Aiea pulled the small Pearlcatcher closer to her chest. Any normal child would have started to become impatient, but Donohtha was not like any other child. Children should be playful, not sitting in the darkest corner of their cave, staring at the stone with blind eyes. But this he did. “Nothing to worry, kid, we're almost there.”, no reply came, no curious question where this 'there' was. It ripped Aieas heart apart but also pushed her to move on. Surely her mother had an idea how to make things easier for this poor child. Donohtha just shrugged his fragile shoulders and buried his head deeper into the dark silks of her dress, not caring where she took him. “Don't worry.” It took Aiea another hour, but then she finally arrived, worn out and tired from the fast flight she had pushed herself to but with a small grin on her face. The surprise on the guards faces was always worth the rush, she greeted the ones she knew from her own childhood spent within the walls of this lair, nodded at those she could not recognize. It felt strange to be back, like she was trapped between nostalgic and happiness. “Hey, where's everybody? Mom? Dad? You have visitors!”, maybe she should sent a messenger ahead next time, Aiea thought. “Your lost daughter is back home! Plus surprise.” @Comic1Sans ((i'm subbed~))

His ears twitched and he stirred, opening his eyes slightly to see the shadow of his sister just outside. He stood, bolting to the door, but stopped halfway there when he caught a familiar scent outside that of his sister's. His eyes grew wide with fear as he retreated back to the far wall of his room before anyone noticed. He knew that smell. After all, it was hard to forget the scent of his own flesh and blood. Memories that he hoped he had forgotten started to resurface. Ones of darkness. Of anger far beyond his own. Of the blood of the one who had bewitched him dripping off his claws as the darkness coursed through him. Memories of the fear when he finally managed to push the darkness out and come to his senses. And of the crushing guilt when he realised he had been to late. He curled himself tightly around his pearl, and began nervously pulling at his mane as he tried to force the memories out. Tried to push the guilt away, to no avail. The scent only seemed to grow stronger. "Why." he muttered, even as small sparks of lightning arced between his horns in response to his emotions. "Why did she bring them here." ((I told you it would break him...Gaze upon the fruits of your labor. A broken Samuel. You have corrupted me.))

((There were nocs that were...foolish enough to copy Aiea? I don't know if thats brave or just suicidal.))

Aieas raw, dark laughter echoed through the halls, she would have opened her arms for her mother to hug her, but then she would have to let go of Donohtha, which clang for his dear life, intimdated and scared by the many new scents and voices, dug his stubby childrenclaws deep into the silken cloth of her dress. So, instead she just laid one bright wing over her mother, bumped her gently with her much larger head.

“Thats what you get when you let Miss Rosemary take care of one. She's always thinking we're about to starve. Especially now with our food stocks full and bursting. Undyne really pulled a thing when she promised Plague-Fang food.”, Aiea grinned, enjoyed the innocent joy she felt when she blinked down to her father, but then she sobered up, pushed the smile aside. “But enough of joking. Skricin sends his regards, he's sorry that he can't come visit. He's currently in a...rocky phase of his...training.”

Somewhere between her sobering up and the sudden change of topic, Donohtha lifted his head out of Aieas tight embrace, ears too large for his sickly small and fragile frame moved slowly, nostrils were wide and fluttering. He thought he caught the scent of something familiar. Even more than his aunt. A low, careful chirp escaped his throat, the boy ducked and glared with blind eyes up, from where the voices came, not knowing if this was a good or bad thing. All he wanted was to curl himself into a tight ball in some dark and forgotten corner, forget about the world and the cruel mockery.

((HA! my mission is complete! I succeeded~))

((One in particular, but i have yet to create them.))

Sans laughed. "She seems determined to run us dry that one." he joked, a sad smile on his face. It was slightly saddening that Skricin wasn't able to be there. Welun had grown somewhat distant, and he was starting to grow worried. He had hoped that maybe Skricin would be able to... He shook his head to clear the thoughts. Now was not the time to worry about such things.

Amelia's gaze softened even more when she saw the small hatchling poke their head up. But, the longer she looked, the more she couldn't shake the small feeling that only a mother knew. The one that told her there was something different, that she somehow was connected to this child.
"Who is this little one?" she asked, her tone soft as she approached the hatchling in her daughter's arms.
((I guess I should clarify, Sans and Amelia know what happened, but they have yet to see the hatchling.))

((Ah x'D They have to do this only to get caught by the real Aiea.))

“Oh, now I almost forgot the reason why i'm here in the first place.”, Aiea grinned pained at her fathers weak joke and sad smile. It was sad to see that her brothers seem to cause trouble all three of them even tho Skricin was the one who really tried to make up for it. Aiea bent her knees, lowered her body slowly and allowed her mother to take a closer look at the hatchling, even went so far as encouraging Amelia to take the child on her own arms, so Aiea could stretch her limb a bit. “This is your grandson, Donohtha.”

Rosemary had encourage Aiea to choose a name for the small one and she had brooded for days over a fitting name, read several tales or listened to opinions of other Clanmembers until she stumbled over an old book, written in ancient draconic. The title was something long and complicated but she liked the protagonist in the book, a dragon that overcame every burden life threw in his way. In hope to encourage the kid in her care to do the same, she named him after said protagonist in the book. Pathfinder. Donohtha. Hopefully this won't come back to bite her in the backside.

Donohtha went stiff and silent when he changed arms, shivered a bit and stared with blind eyes, before slowly sniffing and taking in the scent that was not too different from Aieas, close enough to be family. Still, it was uncomfortable for Donohtha, he didn't knew that person, even tho he liked her voice. He twitched and turned a bit, felt heavy, soft cloth rubbing over his thin frame, the corners of a hard jewel poking into his bony rips.

“He's your grandchild, but I bet you know that already.”, Aiea smiled without joy, there was a certain mix of anger and sadness hiding behind her smile, her carefully neutral glare. “Which brings up the question. Where's our favorite blue mage?”

Amelia took the small hatchling with practiced care. It had been some time since she had held a hatchling, and it brought a nostalgic smile to her face. "Hello, young one." she cooed, noting the child's blank stare and scared features with a pang of sadness. To think, that somehow, her son had caused them, it pained her more then she could describe. Regardless, she kept a smile on her face, though it faltered slightly.

"Then that is...i see." sans said with a slightly grave expression, seeming to age a great deal for just a moment before the stupid grin returned and he regained his easygoing air. "I belive he is in his room." he said, nodding to the door behind Aeia.

~~~
Sam's eyes shot open, where he had them shut so tightly it had started to hurt only a moment before. "No. Don't bring them here." he muttered, backing himself as far from the door as he could go. "No. Please, no."
Slowly, Donohtha relaxed, went even so far and stretched his tiny, skinny paw out, tried to reach for the source of this voice. She sounded nice enough, warm and silken, almost like the voice that sung him a lullaby when he was still in his egg and nothing hurt. Gurgling lowly, the green Pearlcatcher whined, asked with this for a bit of attention, for a warm touch. Making sounds was so easier than forming proper words, this way he couldn't be disappointed as well when no one reacted to him. When the other kids avoided him or the adults were to busy doing whatever they did.
“Yeah. Be nice to him, Mom.”, Aiea said softly, watched how her nephew reached out and tried to touch her mothers cheek, blind eyes wide open and tail twitching. “He has no pearl.”
Of course her mother would never outcast a grandchild of hers, but Aiea had seen it happen too often, she wanted to lure Donohtha out of his shell, out of the clouded state his mind was currently. Rejection was the very last thing he needed right now. Never would she understand the pearlcatcher typical behavior but then again, she was a Guardian, perhaps it was something like the Charge thing that was so typical of her breed.
“Alright, Mom, Dad, be nice to Donohtha, I’m gonna look after my little brother.”, Aiea smiled and turned around, knocked gently at the door. Her parents were a bit strange, sure, but they were so fiery loyal to their own flesh and blood, leaving her tiny nephew into their care was nothing that would cause her to worry about. She could even hear the faint giggle of Donohtha in the background. Only a short sound and so faint in comparison to the roaring laughter any other kid in his age would let out, but it was a good sign, a sign that she did the right thing. “Sam, it's me, can I come in?”
There was a low mumbling behind the door and Aiea just took this as her sign that she could go in. To her surprise, her brother was in the corner that hold the most distance from the door, curled tightly around his pearl and with sparks of lightning flashing around his horns. When was the last time she had seen him in such a poor condition?
Never, whispered a dark voice in the back of her mind.
“Hey, Sammy, It's me. Your big sister.”, she was quick to kneel beside him, claw outstretched, hovering over his shoulder but not yet touching. “It's okay, Sammy, I'm alone.”
((Amy pretty much shatters the stereotype. XD))
Where most of her kind, she knew, would immediately disown the hatchling, she held them closer. For, she knew, that they did shun him, and he would be worse off because of it. "I'm sorry to hear that." she said simply, a sad smile on her face.
Sans was half tempted to follow aiea into sam's room, now that he knew the orgin of the hatchling his mate now held, but thought better of it. He had done what he could, now it was her turn to help Sam through this undoubtbly large blow.
~~~

The room smelled like ozone, and sam was practically glowing. He waved a shaking claw after aiea entered, and the door locked behind her, all while he never took his gaze off the floor. His eyes were hidden in the shadow of his hat and he looked at his shaking claw, seeing it as it had been just after he broke the hold of the darkness, covered in the blood of the witch and the unborn children. He clenched his fist to stop the shaking, closing his eyes to break the vision.

"Why?" he asked, his voice barely audible and laced with fear as well as guilt. "Why did you bring them here, aiea?"

((YOU BROKE HIM!!! GAZE UPON A BROKEN DRAGON!! you did this. -_-))

Donohtha purred, a low, rough sound when his grandmother hold him closer. He still hold his claws outstretched, eager to touch and see on a way only a blind dragon could see, to trace the shape of their faces with his delicate, fragile hands and remember them by sound and smell alone. She was warm, she who hold him tightly and she smelled like home, close enough to keep him calm and somewhat happy to be here.

There was another dragon close by, he could hear the breath and the movement, crocked his head to one side, ears peaked up. Who was that? Becoming slowly curious, Donohtha turned in his grandmothers arms, until he could reach out, his paw landed on what felt like the boney, sharp jaw of a guardian.

“Aunt?”, he ask confused, but then he could feel soft hair, a beard. A male then. “Who?”

She didn't even flinched when the door shut behind her, there was only worry in her gaze, she was worried about her brother. The sound of his voice sent shivers down her spine, Aiea felt her heart slowly shatter, until it hurt, it hurt so much to see Samuel like this.

“His name is Donohtha.”, she slowly put a claw on Samuels shoulder, then another and in the end, she pulled him close, tried to mend the pieces together, to heal Samuels wounds. But she was never meant for healing, only for fighting. There was nothing she could do, no foe to take out, to beast to slay. Only her brother and the shattered pieces of his mind. “He's so alone, Samuel. I fear he's gonna die. He misses you terribly.”

It was not a lie, not directly. Donohtha never knew his father but she was right with the fact that the child missed having a family. Acceptance. Love. There was only so much she and Rosemary could give him. There were so many children in Plague-Fang, each one needed love and the day only had 24 hours.

((he, he, he. what can i say. i am a bad, bad person.))

"Granddad." sans answered with a small laugh. He looked the small hatchling in the eyes, noting their blank stare. Out of curioustiy he called up his magic and made his eyes empty of all color and light so they appeared to be hollow sockets. Normally, this would scare any hatchling senseless, but this one seemed unfazed. He snorted. Seemed ironic, given the pattern the child sported on their wings. He let his eyes return to normal.

"That's a good name." Sam said, not reacting to the embrace, not at first. Slowly, tears began to roll down his checks as silent sobs racked his body. "I killed them aiea. It's a miracle he is still alive." He buried his face in her shoulder. "I let the darkness in, aiea. I let it take control. It's my fault. It's all my fault."
