The Clans of old have vanished - ThunderClan, WindClan, RiverClan, ShadowClan, and SkyClan are no more. The territories around the lake are gone, and only a handful of cats managed to escape the destruction. Seasons have passed - many, many seasons - and the remnants of the Clans have survived. Where once there were four, now one Clan stands together - IvyClan. So named for the ivy that crawls up the trees, and the hope that by sticking together, the Clan will thrive. Though they are still getting up on their paws, IvyClan is determined to withstand the tests of time. They may live in the Shadow of the Clans, but they will survive.
IvyClan travelled far from the lake, away from the mountains and their original territories. Now they reside in the foothills of another mountain range. Forests cover the slopes of the mountains, dense and leafy at the bottom, transitioning to pines higher up. The trees become sparse farther up the mountains, and the earth turns to stone. A waterfall crashes down from the mountains, winding through the forest in a fast-flowing river. The leaf-bares here are harsh, and there are still predators in the territory that have not yet been cleared out.
IvyClan's camp is a less dense section of the forest. In the center is a tall tree with a hollow at the bottom, where the leader sleeps. Bushes and other hollows make up the rest of the dens.
At the top of the mountain, there is a cave. There is no shining stone or pool within it, but it is the closest point to StarClan that the cats have. This is where leaders and medicine cats speak to their ancestors.

Duskstar watched the sun rise from just inside her den. Her yellow eyes shone when the light struck them, slowly creeping its way above the treetops and into the camp. When the light touched her paws, she stood, shaking out her fur, and stepped out into the camp. The day was just beginning, and there was much to be done.
She would have to find Stormflight, the two of them needed to organize the patrols and plans for the day.

Riftpaw yawned, sorting through some herbs quietly and trying to memorize them.
He sniffed at some old marigold, trying to figure out if it was still fresh enough to use.
He pawed gently at various herbs, sniffing and trying to figure out what each one was.
Marigold, tansy, coltsfoot... Alder bark, burdock root... I think this is chervil...
Giving up, he sat down in his nest. He was trying to prove a point by figuring everything out alone. But maybe he did still need his mentor for most things.

Snowheart have herself a tiny shake as she rise early from her nest. Riftpaw was sorting through herbs, but that was fine for now. She exited her den and grabbed a small mouse and vole from the relatively small fresh kill pile. Hunting patrols would have to start soon. Duskstar was already awake as well, and Snowheart could hear cats awakening in the warriors den. She went back into her den and dropped the come by Riftpaw. "Eat, what herbs do we need?"

"We need coltsfoot." Riftpaw told her, remembering their stock being low as he went past it. "And our marigold is a little old, but I think we can still use it."
He took a bite of the fresh kill, enjoying the warm flavours. He usually preferred birds, but he would eat anything. Anything besides rats. Riftpaw had eaten a rat once when he was a kit, and it was horrible.

"I don't think we'll need colts foot anytime soon, but we'll need to go through the marigold and take out any pieces that look to old or dry." Snowheart said beginning to eat the mouse. She looked at the herbs laying out. She flicked her tail at a pile of comfrey roots. "What is that and what does it do?" she quizzed. It was good for broken bones and wrenched claws.

"Comfrey." Riftpaw remembered. "It's for... Broken bones?" He was pretty sure there was another thing, but he wasn't quite sure what.
He stood up, walking over to the herbs. He started to separate the dried up marigold from the fresher ones.
Hopefully we won't be needing much marigold anyway. He thought. IvyClan doesn't have other clans to fight, so we don't get many wounds to worry about infection. But still, we'll want enough marigold just in case.

"Yes, it's also good for wrenched claws and stiff joints." Riftpaw started sorting out the marigold. Snowheart walked toward the entrance. You can sort the marigold later, I want to go get coltsfoot before I forget."
I wonder why no warriors are up yet. Sleepyheads. I can teach Riftpaw some about hunting, since all our warriors like to sleep in.

"Alright." Riftpaw put away some of the fresh marigold and followed Snowheart.
Riftpaw looked around the camp. Most, if not all, of the Warriors were still asleep. He glanced at Snowheart and realized his mentor had noticed as well.
"I wonder why they're all asleep?" Riftpaw commented. "I guess we're just up early- we do have a lot of herbs to sort and memorize." He shrugged.

Sharppaw crept out of the apprentice den and stretched out in the sunlight. He eyed the prey pile, noticed it was nearing empty. He knew he was supposed to wait for his mentor's ok before grabbing anything, but he didn't know where they were. His stomach growled, and he edged his way closer to the pile.
Duskstar twitched her ears, listening to her Clan wake. Movement by the medicine den caught her eye. Since she had yet to spot her deputy, she decided to head there. She crossed the camp, enjoying the warmth on her fur.
