"Hurry, before the storm regains speed!" A cloaked figure called to their companion, who was starting to lag behind. The never-ending storm if the expanse roared overhead, increasing speed with each passing moment. Each second spent out of cover, was another second they risked losing their cargo to the terrors of the desert sands. "Just a little farther."
The walled settlement stood on the horizon, and their dragons flew above them, watching the path for dangers. The first, a mighty guardian, the color of which matched the shifting sands. They were bound to the first if the cloaked figures. The second, a sleek spiral, the color of the neighboring sea, was bound to the second.
Luckily, the pair made it to the settlement just before the winds became dangerously high, the mighty walls protecting the small village within from the gale. Their cargo, two dragon eggs. Each giving to them by clans within this very desert as part of an age old pact to keep the peace between man and beast. The pact dates back to the beginning of the second age, and marks an end to the dragon wars.
"Do you have them?" The second asked the first as they crossed the gates.
The first checked the pouch that hung at his side, nodding as he looked at the two crackling eggs inside. "Are you sure they will be here, master?"
"Certain." The second replied, the spiral who had been their partner since time long past, coiled around their staff. "The tidelord has shown me." The second added as people began to filter from their homes to see the massive behemoth that was the guardian. After all, it was not often that riders came to the far reaches, and dragons were less common still.
