These are the dragoncats, creatures with the body of a cat, and the wings, horns, tails, and magic of a dragon. They rule these parts with their superior magic, although they tend to be small. Will you enter into their land?[/b] Dragoncats are elemental creatures. But their element can be nearly anything, like fire, space, metal, and so on. Often their appearance reflects their element, but if it doesn't, the common trait with an element is the eye color. For example, ice elementals would have ice-blue eyes, water would have deep blue, void would have black*. They live in two rival groups, Montem and Gramina. Montem live in caves on a tall mountain, and usually elements closer to the element of Darkness would go to this tribe. Gramina lives in a wide grassy meadow, with a few trees here and there. Usually elements closer to the element of Light would go to this tribe.** Note that Darkness does not mean evil, and Light does not mean good. When kits reach half a year old, they go to Initiation. Before this each kit has gray eyes, and their element is undiscovered. After initiation they find their element and announce whether they want to be a Warrior, Defender, Hunter, or Healer. They then begin training under another in their tribe with that element and rank. If there is no cat in their tribe with that element, they go for the next-best thing. Kits find their element by gazing into a pool of water, which then turns the color of the eyes of their element. It then gives them their eye color and any elemental things to their appearance, like a fire dragonkit might get harmless flames on its horns. Until the dragonkit is a year old, they are the Initiated, their initiator trains them in the ways of their element and how to use elemental magic. Dragoncats can wield their element, like a light elemental might be able to hold balls of light or illuminate an area. If you have any questions about this please ask. Dragoncat appearance is very flexible, but a few things are always constant. They always have at least one pair of horns on their head and spines down their back. They always have fur. Once a month leaders and the heads of each rank go to the Stones of Telling to see if the Ancestors have anything to tell them. The gathering is very mysterious and no one but those who go truly know what goes on. Occasionally one kit will have two elements, but this is very rare. When that happens their eyes get one elemental color and the other gets the other color. They can control both, but they're weakened. For example a fire/darkness dual elemental would only be able to control some of fire and some of darkness, but not have the full power of both

The camp is above the tree line, but in the pine forest at the bottom lots of prey hides. The top of the mountain is capped with snow. The actual camp is a large cave with littler caves branching off of the main cave. The Leader's cave is raised above the rest, with a ledge to stand upon to address the tribe. The kit-mother cave is at the back, with comfortable moss nests. The Ancients cave is at the opposite side of the back from the kit-mother cave. The Defenders cave is at the very entrance, and on top of the entrance to the cave is a scouting cave where some can stay to watch the camp and protect it. The Warriors cave is on the opposite side of the Defenders cave. The Healer's cave is halfway through the cave, with a stream running through it. The Initiated cave is on the opposite side of the Healer's cave. On the top of the large cave is a huge white glowing crystal, which illuminates the room and gets dimmer at night. In the smaller caves are other glowing white crystals which illuminate it. There is a side cave where prey is stored. The giant tree that is their camp is in the very center. Through the middle of the territory runs a large river. The camp is a large tree with lots of thick branches and large knotholes which serve for dens. The Leader's den is at the very top of the tree, but they come down to a lower, thicker branch where the entire tribe can gather to address it. The kit-mother den is near the bottom, with the thickest branch there to ensure no kits fall off. The Ancients den is above the kit-mother den. The Defenders den is at the middle of the tree, and at the very tip of the tree is a scouting den where some can stay to watch the camp and protect it. The Warriors den is just above the Defenders den. The Healer's cave is near a lush branch with lots of plants growing on it. The Initiated cave is by the top. At the very tip of the tree prey is stored as well. Each den has a large branch that is interconnected with others, making it easy to walk between dens. But they do inhabit the Hills, which is a desolate land with nothing but barren hills and tree skeletons. They were the most peaceful of the tribes, yet their territory was the one most damaged by the plague. Now it can never be healed, and they think that all the rest of the world is dead. The camp is a dip in a valley with a stream running through. It is in a cluster of trees. The stream still flows, but the water is murky and slow-moving. The trees are nothing but bleached bone. Vallis has developed a unique way of getting food - they raise animals as livestock. Here, once a year, the cats of both tribes meet for Initiation. The young kits, whose eyes are gray, look into the pool and receive their element. The Vagari wait until the other tribes are gone to Initiate their kits. Vallis has used the power of the Ancestors to let their stream become an Initiation spot.[/center] [center][font=cambria][size=5][u]The Stones of Telling[/u][/size] A circle of stones, with a flat slab in the center. Here the Leader, Head Healer, Head Warrior, and Head Defender of both tribes go in peace to see if the Ancestors have anything to say to them. It is at an intersection of the mountain, the hills, and the meadow. Sometimes the leader of the Vagari joins them.[/center] [center][font=cambria][size=5][u]Non-dragoncat Creatures[/u][/size] In the surrounding areas, other creatures roam. Sometimes they attack the dragoncats or make alliances. You can roleplay as a gryphon, manticore, sphinx, wampus, mishipeshu, serpopard, cactus cat, chimera, sea-lyon, or winged lion. Montem

Gramina

Gramina territory is very wide and open, with few trees and very long golden grass. The giant tree that is their camp is in the very center. Through the middle of the territory runs a large river.

The camp is a large tree with lots of thick branches and large knotholes which serve for dens. The Leader's den is at the very top of the tree, but they come down to a lower, thicker branch where the entire tribe can gather to address it. The kit-mother den is near the bottom, with the thickest branch there to ensure no kits fall off. The Ancients den is above the kit-mother den. The Defenders den is at the middle of the tree, and at the very tip of the tree is a scouting den where some can stay to watch the camp and protect it. The Warriors den is just above the Defenders den. The Healer's cave is near a lush branch with lots of plants growing on it. The Initiated cave is by the top. At the very tip of the tree prey is stored as well. Each den has a large branch that is interconnected with others, making it easy to walk between dens. These cats hunt birds, sheep, and other meadowland creatures.

The Vagari

The Vagari are always on the move, never in one solid place. But they do inhabit the Hills, which is a desolate land with nothing but barren hills and tree skeletons. Here the Vagari wander, being cast out of the other two tribes and drinking whatever water they can find and eating whatever prey they catch.

Vallis

Vallis was a tribe that used to live in valleys lush and hills tall. They were the most peaceful of the tribes, yet their territory was the one most damaged by the plague. Now it can never be healed, and they think that all the rest of the world is dead.

The camp is a dip in a valley with a stream running through. It is in a cluster of trees. The stream still flows, but the water is murky and slow-moving. The trees are nothing but bleached bone. Vallis has developed a unique way of getting food - they raise animals as livestock. They also have a water purification system.

Other Areas and Creatures

The Pool of Selection

In an underground cavern there is a pool. Here, once a year, the cats of both tribes meet for Initiation. The young kits, whose eyes are gray, look into the pool and receive their element. The Vagari wait until the other tribes are gone to Initiate their kits. Vallis has used the power of the Ancestors to let their stream become an Initiation spot.

The Stones of Telling

A circle of stones, with a flat slab in the center. Here the Leader, Head Healer, Head Warrior, and Head Defender of both tribes go in peace to see if the Ancestors have anything to say to them. It is at an intersection of the mountain, the hills, and the meadow. Sometimes the leader of the Vagari joins them.

Non-dragoncat Creatures

In the surrounding areas, other creatures roam. Sometimes they attack the dragoncats or make alliances.
You can roleplay as a gryphon, manticore, sphinx, wampus, mishipeshu, serpopard, cactus cat, chimera, sea-lyon, or winged lion.

Appearance: A dark blue dragoncat with lighter green-blue wing membranes, horns, and tail-tip. Her tail-tip is shaped like a harpoon of sorts, and her tail is really long. Her horns are spiraled like conch shells. Upon her body are pale blue - almost white - swirls, almost looking like capping waves.
Personality: Hydra is a natural leader, always finding a way to pull her cats out of a pinch. She uses logic to solve things and can build something out of nothing. She is also extremely faithful in the Ancestors. She can be too confident in herself, which leads to failure and disappointment, and when she fails she goes into a depressive state of unfunctionalness and sadness.
Backstory: Hydra was born to some of the remnants of Vallis. Her two parents were grey-eyed, as were all the cats at the time. They told her many stories about the Ancestors and life before the plague, which had been passed down generation to generation. When her parents told her about the elements and Initiation, Hydra desperately wanted an element. Her tribe was much weaker without elements! So every night she would ask the ancestors to give them a new place to be Initiated. On her six month birthday, she stood by the stream and asked the ancestors with all her will to let the waters be a new place of Initiation. All of a sudden, the stream flashed dark, shimmering blue, and encased Hydra in a bubble of water. She was amazed! The blue faded away and the stream was murky again, but Hydra now had blue eyes. Everyone else was amazed. Everyone in the tribe received an element that day. Eventually Hydra rose to become Leader, and many were proud of her.
Extra: She is the purifier system, filtering the water with her powers.

Element: Mind, bright purple eyes. He can teleport though it takes energy, levitate things with telekinesis, and can read minds but he's not very good at reading minds
Appearance: Dark purple, almost black fur, with six horns coming down to the side of his face that are colored pale purple and a small pale purple ball at the end of his tail. His wings have light purple membranes.
Personality: Astrar is very proud - and full - of himself. He is intelligent, and also is really awkward but tries to hide it. He is just, and good at recognizing where he went wrong, as well as being very sincere.

Personality: Spiralus is really nervous and stutters practically on every sentence. "sorry" is one of his most used words. He often wonders how he got such a high rank, and has a high amount of self-doubt.
Extra: Though he is a Wind elemental, he is very good at healing and has discovered several new herbs.

Throughout there are cooler metal tones, like platinum, nickel, and chrome.
Personality: Pessimistic and realistic, they never look on the bright side of things. They think they have just been unlucky from the start and don't think luck or chance is a thing.
Backstory: They used to be part of Montem, and was cast out because at Initiation, while the pool turned a metallic silver, his eyes did not change. The tribe was afraid that he didn't have an element, which happens rarely, so they cast him out. Gramina wouldn't let him in either. So he joined the Vagari along with fellow outcasts. There he found out that he did have an element, Metal, but was pretty certain that neither tribe would accept him so he just stayed.
Family: He doesn't care about them anymore, but they do have a younger brother who is a duel elemental, who of course was always seen as the better sibling.
