Dash's eyes wandered from the instructions in his paws then back to the mammoth construct that towered before him. To his left a small group was starting to form. His doubt was proven wrong when a guide came from the building and herded the group inside.

He stood there for a moment, his eyes wandering between the directions, the building, and the spot the group once collected. Eventually, he was able to brush it off and returned to his instructions.

"Was that a tour group?" Mara asked, apparently she didn't brush the obvious away as he had. The Guardian shuffled about in the sand; her discomfort obvious in the way she moved and the grimace she wore (and had worn since entering the desert). He offered her a nod as a response, more interested in his letter then the idle chatter.

I have to apologize about forgetting the facts about Kieron's birth clan-- I'm afraid there are too many things clogging my brain lately it makes it hard to retain details =( . Twix was starting a tour, Sirus was floating behind some rocks, and Dash was approaching the Citadel. Ester rushed down the stairs, running into Alexei as he went up the stairs to find her. "Sorry!" The two of them hurried down the stairs together and out into the sunlight. Ester, trying not to look too excited, walked quickly, hopping a little as she did. "Hello, Dash! It's good to see you again, thank you for coming." To Mara she said, "Hello, I don't think I had the chance to introduce myself at the symposium, I'm Esterkhazi, the chief doctor here at the Home. This is Alexei, our chief of security. He'll be walking with us for most of your visit, both for your safety and the safety of our facility." When he saw the two approaching and no sign of the doctor he went upstairs to find her. Once back down again he stood slightly behind Ester while she spoke to the dragons. He smiled at Mara before nodding to Dash and murmuring a curt hello. Anxious to begin he asked, "Where should we begin? I understand you are mainly interested in the Shade-Touched Fae? Or would you prefer to start with another of our residents?" Ester shuffled a bit, uncomfortable at Alexei avoiding Kieron's name. Dash's flesh tingled as a strange energy weaved through his fur. This uncomfortable tingle came from his close proximity to Alexei and had yet to cease even with him taking a few steps back toward Mara. What the Chief of Security gave off was strong, but didn't feel like the typical sensation he received when close to the Shade. Honestly, he had no idea what the energy was or why he was sensing it. His light green eyes arched up towards the Home and for a moment he wondered exactly what he was going to sense while walking the halls. As the thoughts crossed his mind, his body reacted with a shiver.

Mara nudged him with her tail, bringing him back to the social pleasantries he was all but ignoring. Huh? "Oh! Oh yes, I have come to visit with Kieron and perhaps after we can visit with the others. I'm quite fascinated with this facility of yours." Dash turned his attention to the good doctor and offered her a cub like smile. "This effect of being magicless is most interesting. It leaves an empty feeling and I have to admit when we first walked through that barrier I started to feel a hint groggy. It seems to have passed now...

"Or you are just overly excited again," Mara said. Her words were soft, so it was likely she had meant to speak under her breath. Dash chuckled in response. "That could be it as well," he said. The guardian looked down at him with a blush tinting her facial scales a soft pink. She cleared her throat a few times to clear her embarrassment and when that didn't work she moved to misdirection. "So, what security precautions do we need to be aware of?"

Sorry for the delay =)

Ester laughed, much more comfortable in this setting than she was at the symposium. "Sounds about right. I'm glad you're feeling better."

Alexei watched silently as Dash stepped back, raising his eyebrows slightly. He believed he knew the cause of Dash's distress and was impressed by his sensitivity. He let out a quiet laugh, partially because of Mara's embarrassment and partially because Steve was crawling across his neck, moving the feathers out of his way to get to Alexei's shoulder. Alexei grabbed the spider and held him as he answered the question posed to him. "All the residents are kept behind barred doors, you are permitted to enter but at your own risk and with the promise to do exactly as I say and leave the room without question if you are asked."

Ester stepped on Alexei's foot, worried that he would upset Mara or Dash. "I'm sure Dash and Mara are capable of realizing when any of our patients pose a threat. You don't need to control their every move."

Alexei shrugged and refused to look at Ester, wishing he had more control. Ester had invited Dash and Mara without consulting him, which he did take some offense to. Continuing as if Ester had not spoken, he motioned behind him to the two suits of armor that had turned to watch the group, "These Spirit Armors reside throughout the Citadel. They serve as my security team and are under my control."

Dash nodded understanding for the precautions set out for them, but before he could comment on them or thank Ester for her faith the Security Chief yanked his fascination to the armor. "Amazing!" he declared before bouncing off to the pair that stood behind them. Without touching them, he gave both a throughout visual examination. They cast off the same energy as Alexei, but it wasn't nearly as strong. "How many can you control!? I've never heard of anyone who had the strength to create and control more then one?" As he would normally, he jumped right to his ramble of questions-- which was mostly offered without any consent of his common sense. "Is it because of the energy you wield? Is that natural to you? It feels like it's natural to you. What else can you do--

Mara flinched when Dash started his ramble. Myaac had instructed her to just pinch his mouth shut, but her paw was so much larger then his she was worried about actually harming the good Librarian. So, instead of using her claw tips to stifle his maw, she set one paw on his back and pressed until he was flat on the ground. He, remarkably enough, only stopped talking after being forced to emit a moan. Once quiet she removed her paw.

Dash stood up and dusted himself off, thankful his cloak was hiding most of the soft pink that lined his nose. "I do apologize for that," he said gently. He was used to the guardians hushing him up in unique and unusual ways, so he didn't fuss at Mara for her tactic. "I am curious how many you can control at one time, however."

Alexei nodded without smiling. He was grateful that Mara had stopped the otherwise unending stream of questions. "Currently there are 90 armors under my control. Occasionally more show up. They are artifacts left by the original inhabitants of the Citadel, but the magic used to control them is my own, an unfortunate side effect of being a curious child." He had remained stiff throughout the entire process, and a process it was. Ester had encouraged him to share of he was asked about his abilities, and he had reluctantly agreed, a decision he now regretted.

Ester stepped in front of Alexei, drawing attention from her uncomfortable co-worker. "Perhaps we should start heading inside? Another group is beginning to gather to wait for the next tour, we don't necessarily want them to overhear. We can chat as we walk." Ester took a step in the direction of the Citadel, not quite turning until she was sure the others agreed. Alexei, on the other hand, nodded and began to walk towards the building. He did, after a few steps, however, slow almost to a stop as he was unsure whether or not he wanted to be far from the guests.

Dash nodded understanding as he followed along with Ester, Mara at his side, for the main building. "What is public knowledge about the Citadel?" he asked. Honestly not wishing to share anything that he came across that might be considered need to know.

As they walked he pulled out his notebook and jotted down the explanation of the armor. Every now and again his eyes would shift to the stiff security chief that was a head of them a few steps. He hadn't meant to make him uneasy with his questions, though he knew he had a knack for it. Once they caught up he expressed his regret at having unnerved him. "I do apologize for making you upset with my questions," he stated gently, "My mouth can often times get ahead of my common sense. Though I will not press, if you feel up to discussing your childhood curiosity I would be most interested?"

Ester hesitated, misunderstanding Dash's meaning for asking. She feared that he meant to express discouragement at the the Home's decision to withhold information. "Umm, well, we don't want to alarm the public, so we choose to withhold information on the exact abilities and number of residents here. We try to avoid mass hysteria. While most of our records are sealed, you are allowed to share most of what you hear, we just ask that you use discretion, sticking mainly to information on the Shade, as that is your main purpose for coming here."

Alexei glanced at Dash as he approached. He listened, straight faced, as Dash apologized. "Do not apologize. You are here to study dragons with anomalous powers. I am just unfortunate enough to fall into that category." He looked away and shuffled a bit more as he walked. "As it is your job to learn what you can I will tell you. I... I found, hidden where it was never meant to be discovered, a collection of old books describing some form of magic, I never thought to ask what it was, specifically. I'm short, I tried to use this magic and the consequences were... severe." Alexei paused, wanting to stop but afraid Dash would question him further. Not that he blamed him, he understood Dash's fascination with his story and his desire to learn. Alexei quickly rattled off the last few facts, " I killed someone. It was an accident. I left my clan and ended up here where the armors seem to have taken a liking to me. "

Sorry I took so long!

Dash nodded understanding all the while taking notes on what Alexei explained to him. "Fascinating," he said. He decided it was probably best not to prob into his past too much further. If the poor drake grew any stiffer Dash feared he might shatter. "Thank you for explaining that. Perhaps after my interview with Kieron I could be allowed to inspect one of the armors? If they are comfortable with it of course."

After his request he turned his attention to Ester to address her answer to his earlier questions. "Thank you. I didn't wish to inadvertently give up any information that might put the Home or it's occupants in harms way. I was fully prepared to record the interview mentally," he joked.

No worries at all =) RL takes precedence over FR.
