Roleplay

Tell stories and roleplay in the world of Flight Rising.
TOPIC | My introduction to FR roleplay

(( I’ve been roleplaying for quite some time now, be it on sites like shamchat or with friends on Snapchat or kik, Sometimes even in real life with games like DnD. I’ve got the base skill down flat, but this here is a brand new outlet and I’d like to get the hang of it a little bit. So I’m going to set this up as a test of sorts, a DnD style adventure without the dice. I, of course, will be DMing. (Or Gming if you’re gonna get snooty about how it’s not really DnD, hush your face.)

Don’t be scared off by the amount of stupid that you can smell wafting off that paragraph there. I can assure you I sort of know what I’m doing a little bit. I glanced at one of the rule guide thingies, they were very long and boring and I’m sure if I screw up someplace plenty of you will yell at me about it. I’m not worried about it either way.

Let’s go over how this is going to work, this is going to be oh so loosely based on table top roleplaying it just may confuse some of you, I’ll explain. I set you off on a quest with your little group that you set up, I throw dangers at you and all types of shenanigans, you react thusly to said shenanigans, we have fun. I get to decide if you’re decided action is ok, decisively, much like a DM. I won’t steer the wheel but you can bet your hindquarters I’m screaming directions from the back seat.

If you hav any questions, ask me, i have no foresight when it comes to writing down basic guidelines and rules and I’m sure there’s a lot that needs cleared up. Here’s hoping to this being the first to many campaigns.

Ps. Ignore all spelling errors, my fat fingers have a heck-of-a time typing with my phones keyboard.))

@PeeldatOrange
Personally, I've never played Dnd but this looks like a really cool concept!! I'd definitely be interested.

@PeeldatOrange Ooh, sounds super fun! I haven't played DnD either, but I've wanted to for a long time! (Also, I wouldn't worry about being yelled at! Despite the recently opened registration, FR has remained a small and great community of lots of friendly, helpful people. And, to get off topic a bit, since I see y'all are both new users, I'd be happy to help you with anything!)

I occasionally don't get pings because of misspellings. My username is SLP (lowercase), three zeroes, and a one. You can copy and paste it if you're not sure you have it right.
If you want to talk about something troubling you, my PM box is open to everyone! Feel free to reach out whenever, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I'll keep what you say a secret, if you want. It's my pleasure to help out everyone I can!

@PeeldatOrange crude example or a DnD game map a friend of mine used just to have the visual reference (yes you can use it too if you want): Described as, You stand at the crossing of a bridge the rivers bellow swift and high from spring rains teeming with salmon. An abandoned apple orchard sits hidden by the backside of a mill on the opposite embankment. The doors are ajar, from within there is only a vague darkness and hushed voices. Aside the bridge there are two strange stones with ancient runes carved into them but faded in most places with rain and weather. On your left and right sides are a clearing which may have once been a wheat or barley field, here or there a garden where wild raspberries still grow. The beginnings of a forest are behind you, maples that break upon tall jack pines and spruces further in. Somewhere amidst the small island of trees a hawk calls nervously, it's nest is close, but hidden. Example, example, etcetera, etcetera.

@bunker

Lucky for us, Bunker, flights rising supplies us with maps and enemies and NPCs already, I don’t have to do much work except read some lore that, again, is already provided here on the website. I’m sure we can have a lot of fun with it, and maybe have ourselves a coherent story line. If I get off lore or get some facts mixed up I’m sure some one will correct me.

As for the whole dragons are op thing, I don’t see an issue with weakening them up a little bit. Also, again, pre existing enemies already exist in this game, along with their own descriptions and such. I can create my own bosses and NPCs to go with all of this and tie a story together, at least for a future roleplay. I wasn’t really planning on researching my butt off for this first little test run.

@RainingBirds

Not all of the charms of DnD are going to transfer over to her, so I totally recommend doing some table top roleplaying on your own time. But I’m sure this will also be super fun and an entertaining way to create our own stories within the flights rising universe!
