How to Curse a Curse.(Original name. Didn't want to use it twice, though :P )
Yes, how do you curse something that's already a curse?
Would that even work?
Or would it just fail?
Well, I suppose it'd depend heavily on what sort of curse it was, yeah?
Mmm... I suppose so, huh?
If you're really so interested, why don't you find out for yourself?
Hmph. Fine then. I will!

Coming across a small town at the edge of one desert or another meant that you'd have a place to stay for the night in an inn. Which was good, since it'd probably be a bit chilly at night otherwise. What you didn't know is that the town hid a secret from the outside world. Sure, all the folks (most of them at least in their early thirties and older) seemed friendly enough. But it wasn't them that they hid. It was the being that hid under the town. The being that only seemed to come out at night.

You got a room at the nicest looking inn in the town and settled down, with dusk coming all too quickly you decided to try and sleep. Only to find that you couldn't. No matter how hard you tried, the feeling of being watched kept you from slipping into dreamland. Deciding that a walk might make you feel better, you decided to head out of the inn. Disregarding the innkeeper's warning that it usually wasn't safe out once the moon was visible.

You'd noticed all the small baskets outside of buildings when you entered town, but now all of them were filled with various things. From still-packaged devices to food to brand new looking plush toys. You wondered why, considering it didn't seem like the type of town to believe in fairytales. That was when your gaze was drawn to the human looking figure walking down the street, picking out things from the baskets and putting them into a large looking bag they carried. Sometimes the figure would stop and sit and tear into a bit of food, eating hurriedly, before going back to walking and picking things out of what the townsfolk had put out.

As they drew closer, you noted that they were too heavily cloaked to make out the features of. Only the barely visible flash of something on their hands glittering in the light of the full moon was clear, and even that was only when they let the cloak slip a little to reveal their hands. Standing from one of the baskets, the figure turned to continue walking. Only to have noticed you standing there, watching them. They froze in place and then took a step back, apparently frightened.

What do you do in return?

(Just a repost from an rp I made awhile back, the person seems to have disappeared though :C So yeah, I'm just reposting because I really want to use the character more. Also fixed a couple of things I noticed when I was rereading it.
Edit: Please DO NOT PING ME. I'LL BE SUBSCRIBED.)

Richard stared at the person/being. This wasn't what he expected to have seen during his brief stay. He didn't want them to charge him in desperation to fight him, so he made sure to watch them as it watched him. He was in a flannel shirt with a black shirt beneath it and blue jeans. Whatever this was, it seemingly was afraid of him too. He knew by morning he would be gone from here regardless, but this was beyond creepy. Then again most warnings exist for a reason. He would have to get back to town anyway. No doubt get another job and hope things work out.

(Sorry its short! And I'm subbed)

(Alright! And no worries! I kinda had a batch of no motivation.... YAY ME!! ;w; )

They took a step back, the hood of the cloak moving slightly to show that their head was moving as they looked around what they could see of the town. After a moment they completely moved, turning and starting to walk briskly towards the direction leading out of town. The bag was still in their grip, taking it with them apparently. Clearly they were more afraid of interacting with Richard then they were anything else, or maybe they were just scared of even being seen? It was really unclear being that the person didn't get any closer and was out of speaking range.

(It's ok :)

Richard watched it go. Ok..? That was certainly strange. He didn't pursue them thinking maybe it was dangerous or the town would yell at him for something. He went back inside and wrote the description down on a piece of paper in case anything happens again. This town was certainly strange... he wondered what the urban legend was given what just happened.

Said 'urban legend' wasn't a legend at all, being heavily talked about around the town freely. Anyone roughly the age of twenty and younger seemed to have very fond memories of the being Richard had seen last night, some of the children even seemed to meet and play with the being from time to time out in the desert.
Anyone roughly forty and older seemed to be... Less inclined to speak well of the being, and most everyone in the town who were still in their late twenties to early thirties seemed to have a more indifference towards it. Still, that wouldn't really help with gaining any real information about the being, being that some said it was a curse upon the town and other said it was a blessing.

Richard sat outside the bakery listening to how everyone spoke about the curse or blessing. It was all very confusing given how he had seen... something. The night before. Whatever it was seemed to be afraid almost like a child would, yet it was too tall to be a child. It made him wonder what exactly was going on around here. Though he couldn't stay too long, he had to get home too.

Four people walked by then, chatting about the being. Seemed the four were on a double date of sorts, as they were each holding one of the others' hands. They all seemed about 18-19 years of age.

"Did you hear? Some of the others think Tatsuo got spooked last night. Not all of the baskets were checked over." a female with blond hair and blue eyes said, her finger's laced with a black haired brown eyed female's.

"I did. But who'd be out that late to spook him anyway? Most everyone's asleep by then." the blue haired green eyed male on the blond's other side said in reply, getting a shrug in reply. A shorter male was lightly leaning against him and couldn't be seen completely from where Richard was sitting.

"Who knows. Maybe it was someone who was passing through? I've no idea. I just hope he comes back tonight. My sister was heartbroken that he hadn't gotten that really soft rabbit plush she'd spent all her allowance on." the black haired brown eyed girl said, but by then they were walking out of earshot and the conversation seemed to switch to something else.

Richard sighs. How was he to know? Doesn't help he didn't know the town... he finished his breakfast and stood up. He would have to figure out what to do next. He looks at what's left of his drink but decided against it.

If he was going to leave, he needed to make sure his car worked, and that the weather was also compliant. He didn't needed to run into any issues in his trip home. If he had to stay he would, but this town certainly was strange... and it worried him. Just what was it that came through last night? The town sees it as someone to care for almost, but what was it really? And was it really afraid of people?
