((As said on the title, it’s an open starter so feel free to pop in! Please note that the setting is high fantasy, so it will have a medieval/renaissance feel. There will be both dragons/dragon shifters and humans in this rp, however I don’t yet have any set lore for other magical creatures yet so feel free to enquire about them or we can make it up along the way if needed! ^-^ That being said, feel free to respond as a human or dragon/dragon shifter character(s). I prefer small groups or at least leaving it open to have someone else join in later with 3, maybe 4, people max including myself. If you like 1x1 though that’s fine, just let me know (as long as you can play NPC’s when required) ^^’)) ————————————— Despite whatever barriers exhausted between the creatures of this word, there was a legend which was known to all. The sun is said to be the giver of life, one that can grant you immeasurable power, however for the longest time none could reach. Many creatures did not have wings, and those that did either could not reach high enough without being overcome with exhaustion or would begin to burn upon coming to close to its surface. However one day, a dragon made the journey. Their lungs could hold the air needed to make the trip, wings large and strong enough to fly so high, and a hide of iron which protected them from the heat whereas feathers and fur would have surely caught aflame. The dragon took a drop of the sun, scales turning gold and embuding them with the powers of life— the strength to heal wounds simply with a touch. When this dragon returned to the earth, they passed only to the firstborn of their offspring, a trait which would continue for the entirety of their bloodline, in hope that the power would never fall into the wrong hands. To dragons, they are the now the closest thing their kind has to royalty. Whether the power is as great as the tale would imply is unknown in truth, however the idea of power sparks interest to those who wish to acquire it or destroy it. However as time began to pass, powerful beings of every race slowly kept the stories to themselves and allowed it to fade from the masses, be to quell the temptation or for their own plots and schemes Every century fewer and fewer come into contact or are aware of the exsistance of golden dragons, the legend becoming just that: a story and myth told to other dragons for greatness. Some may not even known it as that anymore, the art of healing fading from the idea of what kind of power a dragon may hold. This is but a piece of a grand puzzle though, a story which is only but a chapter to the one which will soon be written.... ——— Strong gusts of wind caused the trees to shake a bit, lacking any sort of grace that a dragon born attached the wind might have. An emerald colored dragon— wyvern in build with a single pair of horns, scales getting darker at his nose and toes with a fin line structure fanning out at the end of his tale— landed in a clearing below, the forest unfamiliar to him but the chosen place to stop regaurdless. He touched down with at least a little grace, one leg lowering slower than the other to set something down before lowering to join the other the the hooks at the edges of his wings in keeping himself upright. Any human would be able to notice the scent of blood in the air, which meant a dragon would catch the scent even easier. What looked like scratch marks on the green wyverns left hip and right shoulder just where his wing attached to his body, though not that they were life threatening. Still, Luca could only hope that he hadn’t just landed in another dragon’s territory— much less that of one who enjoyed picking fights. “Luca?” A gentle voice came from below, a a small now-human-shaped figure peaking out from beneath ha wings and peering up at him with concern before backing up so as not to be under him any longer. The girl only looked like she could have seven at the most, likely a bit younger. Crystal colored eyes which seemed a bit to light to really be called ‘blue’, with golden blonde hair that was a bit dirty in color and looked as if it had been growing out recently but only reached between her shoulder blades. A braid had been done out of some strands which wrapped around her head. She wore a blue dress with pants underneath it and dark colored boots. Luca peered down at her, slowly leaning forward and giving her a gentle nudge with his snout rather than any verbal reply. Even despite being a soft nudge, with her a human it had pushed her a little, but she didn’t seem to be disturbed as a giggle of acceptance was given in return for his not quite answer of being alright. The wyvern of the pair settled finally now that he wouldn’t crush her, wings folding under his torso and refraining from just dropping to the ground so as not to startle the girl. A hooked claw at the end of a wing curled around her, bringing the girl closer and obscuring her with his wing as the weight of everything was surely settling in. A soft rumble came from him, an attempt to comfort tne smaller individual at least a little bit. His head lowered to a rock in the clearing, briefly closing his eyes to collect himself as well after the spiral of chaos which hand ended up chasing the two away from home in the first place. Despite the sting of his wounds, he snapped himself out of it fairly quickly, proving himself back up and gazing up. He wasn’t the largest dragon even if he wasn’t by any means tiny, but even so the trees were still to tall to see over for what was beyond. He figured they should move on quickly though, lest they run into any trouble... (Might as well see where this goes, though I’ll probably add a human character later on.)

The dragon felt a light rumble pass through her throat as she flew through the sky, at peace in her current environment. She didn’t really do such a thing at this time, instead opting to hunt for whatever large animal managed to enter her territory, though adjustments could sometimes be made. After all, her last meal was a rather large deer, even if the horns were a pain to work around. Of course, flying at such times also made her vulnerable to attack from larger dragons or humans at time, but she was also old enough to be aware of such risks.

Noticing that the sun was starting to disappear under the horizon, the dragoness turned and began to make her way back to her home. With that in mind, one of the few things she didn’t expect at that moment was to detect the blood of another dragon, specifically one in her territory. She could also smell something else with them, though it was hard to make out from such an altitude. Not wanting to startle the two or be placed directly in a conflict, she landed a good distance away and simply walked towards them.

In terms of appearance, she probably around the same size as Luca, albeit a bit smaller than him if anything, not that she knew who that was at the time. the dragoness had a rather lithe frame, prefering agility and speed over brute force. As she walked, what remaining light of the day glanced off of silver, jagged scales. Her green eyes also kept watch through the forest she called home, not wanting to be taken off guard by anything. Her wings also had a span of around a hundred feet when displayed at their full length, more than enough to get her airborne. A claw, each as sharp as any sword, also projected from the three toes located on her fore and hindlegs.

(For a picture, just imagine the adult form of this.

(I'm interested! I won't be able to reply until tomorrow though. I will be playing the part of a female dragon shifter. I will post my intro tomorrow, if that is ok.)

Slowly Sycra's eyes opened as the scent of blood pervaded the air around her. The aquatic dragon snorted before rubbing her nose into her floral bed in the hopes of getting rid of the metallic scent. When it failed to leave she instead chose to finally awaken and find the source of her awakening. Taking her time with stretching out her body, and enjoying the cracks and pops from her joints she shuffled towards the entrance of her cave to begin her investigation.

Ancient tree roots framed the solid rock of her cave's entranceway. Dying sunlight filtered from the branches of the tree that supported and disguised her home, allowing for her eyes to adjust to the change in lighting. A huff left the bioluminescent dragoness before she got back to task, sniffing the air for what had awaken her from her deep slumber.

It seemed that the source was coming from the silver scales territory if the wind was anything to go by. Shifting slightly on her short legs, Sycra made sure to sink lower into the swampy earth of her home as she thought over what to do. She didn't necessarily care for the silver scales territory, for it was too dry and what water could be found wasn't deep enough for her to properly submerge. It also lacked the labyrinth of underwater tunnels that spanned underneath Sycra's own territory.

Mind made up Sycra slipped into the surprisingly deep waters of her swampy home and followed the scent to its origin. Massive wings propelled her where they could, and when they couldn't her massive bulk was moved forward with her strong legs and serpentine movements. It took more than a few minutes for her to make it up towards the other females territory due to the tide being against her. When the river got too shallow she stayed within the banks and walked to her destination, as she did not wish to officially trespass until she was as close as she could be

The smell of blood was thicker now and definitely close by, though the scent of the silver scaled one seemed to be extremely faint. Strange, since this was her territory and the blood certainly smelled like one of their kin. Sycra grumbled a little, the lights along her body pulsing softly in irritation. Following the metallic scent she made her way away from the safety of the water and into the forest of the silver scaled. Multiple times her journey was stopped by trees that had grown too close together or from her whiskers getting caught in something.

When she finally, finally, came upon the clearing that the wounded wyvern was located she huffed a little in disappointment. Though there was another scent, hidden by the rich scent of blood that caused Sycra to look actually examine the wyvern. It was obvious that the male was the source of the scent, the wounds along his body were fresh but the source of the other scent was still unidentified.

Sycra flashed her bioluminescence, casting herself in a red glow as she approached the lone male. Puffing herself up, making sure that she looked as big as possible (which wasn't hard) before approaching the male. Only the slight tilt of her head gave away her curiosity as she circled him slowly, tail twitching ever so slightly as she caught a faint flash of silver in the undergrowth.

"What are you doing in Silver Scales territory? I doubt that one as small as you managed to win something from her with such little damage." She might not know the other personally but she had seen the other flying while she herself was dozing in shallow waters. In fact she highly doubted that this male would get away with these few markings when the other female possessed such wicked looking claws and scales. The other was also fast with her wings so he couldn't have escaped her with such wounds. Half of her size the other dragoness might be but her far greater aerial ability was something that even Sycra could admit she was beaten in.

Sycra looks like Namielle from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Here's another pic of her just so I can show how pretty this baby is. Also with how most of our dragons are female and the one male character is a wyvern this is giving me some Dragon Age High Dragon feels. {Just noticed how much a wrote holy crap}

((@BlitzRyu Sounds good, safety ping but also letting you know that i’m subbed ^-^!

@Perdurue That’s perfectly fine! I’m excited to see what you have in store >:D

@FlamesEmbrace *Wheezes* Gotta love the MH designs Technically they’re all considered ‘dragons’ in this, with their actual type being more a sub-Species thing. Guessing humans would consider Sycra a sea/western mix, Blitz’s Chao is a western, and Luca a Wyvern Zio is also a weatern, though possibly more wester/lung. It is kinda funny though lmao))
———————

Blue eyes gazed out at the forest, the scent of another dragon making him pause briefly and poise himself in a stance of defense should said individual decide to come bounding out of the forest full force. When nothing came, aside from the slight glittering of silver scales through the tree line, he shuffled his right wing slightly to nudge the little ‘human’ down below. “...come on, lsts move along before we make anyone mad yeah?” The words were hushed, almost playful tone meant only for the little thing below him rather than anyone in the forest.

“But... won’t flying hurt you?.” Ice blue eyes which were bordering on white or silver peered up at him, looking at the wound on his shoulder. She had been equally as quiet if not more so, sticking close to the older dragon

He was just about to brush it off considering being out of danger ranked higher on the list of priorities than the state of his wing— something that could be healed easy once the younger dragon was out of danger. His head snapped up when another dragon seemingly approached, wing sweeping back in front of Zio even if he didn’t move otherwise.

Despite the display of bioluminescence and puffering herself out, the wyvern didn’t seem intimidated. He didn’t shrink away in response, only remaining in his steeled posture in case the other truly did have ill intent. A small noise came from below him, but to anyone not attuned to the quieter sounds hatchlings made would have easily missed it or have been able to brush it off as little more than the wind.

He shifted a bit as he listened to he words, a clawed foot gently curling around the smaller being as an easy means to bail if needed without having to take the extra time to grab her.

A slight snort came from Luca, watching the water dragoness as if she were just another curiosity or new neighbor rather than a predator. “I wasn’t aware any dragon or clan called this land home.” He tilted his head slightly, the motion just as eagle like as the rest of him, keeping any once of amusement out of his voice at the implication he couldn’t put up a fight if ‘silver scales’ had been referring to the loner in the trees. Not that he wanted any conflict, after all he didn’t exactly go looking for battles unless there was an especially good reason to do so. “You certainly seem to be aware of that fact though, so really out of the two of us you’re trespassing much more than I am— unless of course i’m mistaken and your concern is for your friend over there,” he used his head to gesture to the silver dragon in the trees, “which I can understand. Clans have to look out for each other after all.”

“We were just taking a break, not stopping here to cause problems. We’’ll take our leave, no reason for needless conflict,” Even if they hadn’t heard Zio, her scent would still be obvious since he wasn’t bleeding bad enough for the metallic smell to cover it up. He spread his wings out a bit more to punctuate the point, unless of course either suddenly decided they wanted to assist with the cuts on him— be it attempting to make them better or worse.

While the addition of another dragon was rather unexpected, she didn’t exactly come here for a fight to begin with. Walking out of the trees, the female glanced at the two other dragons before merely giving a light nod in response to Luca’s words. “At the very least, I would appreciate it if my guests informed me of a impending visit. You can stay here if you wish, though I suppose some form of shelter might be beneficial for your smaller companion.” It was at that point that she realized that none of the beings present knew of her name, and figured that such a thing might help to ease the forming tensions between them. “Either way, you can call me Ellysia.”

In all honesty, she didn’t know why some might think she was one to attack anything on sight, though such a thing might simply be a result of her appearance more than anything. She actually tended to avoid conflict to some degree, and there was no honor in inflicting pain on someone who was already suffering. As for the human, she was far to young to have inflicted any pain on one of her kind, so hating her wouldn’t do anything.

With that in mind, the dragoness glanced at Sycra out of the corner of her eye, wary of the larger dragon’s presence. She had probably thought that she might get a free meal out of an injured dragon, one she thought might have been Ellysia herself, so her next action would be relatively unknown to the smaller female. For now, she would simply have to wait and see how events might unfold.

Bare feet stepped lightly over fallen leaves and cool dirt. This land was strange. So very strange. This world was cold. Much colder than what the figure was used to. But, thankfully the calluses were hard on her feet from spending her entire life in a much dryer climate.

The trees were off putting to her. So much shade and cover. So many places to be ambushed from. The figure pulled the old cloak closer, the cowl keeping any facial features hidden. The only visible part were the occasional peek of a pair of sun-kissed feet and the occasional glint of something silver.

She knew there were other dragons nearby, she could smell them. However she had spent too many years running from humans and had nearly perfected the art of masking her true scent. She smelled as normal as a human could smell but to others, there was something just slightly off. Something that was hard to place until she revealed her true form. She had discovered over the last few months that it was easier to pass through places as a human rather than a dragon and even if she did stay in her true form, the hunting would not cease.

She was a very rare breed of dragon, and to her knowledge, the last of her kind. True there were other dragons in the world, made obvious by the scents of others, but none had the golden scales like her. The scales in some strange and intricate design that graced her black scaled dragon form. The gold scales that humans were after and treated them as if they were actually made of gold. Perhaps they were. Perhaps that was why she was worshipped by the Pharaoh’s people many, many years ago. She wasn’t exactly inclined to have her scales plucked from her body and tested. This was the main reason why she took the form of a human female. For the most part, as long as she stayed hidden beneath her cloak, she could pass among them unnoticed.

For now, she was quite a ways from home, passing through a land that was foreign to her.

She could hear the deep rumbles of dragon speak, though she was still too far away to understand their words. True, it was tough for a human to learn the tongue of dragons but being one herself, she understood it just as perfectly with human ears as with her dragon ears. She paused, debating on if she should make her presence known or just avoid them entirely. Surely they could smell her but if she kept her distance, perhaps no confrontation would arise.

(I am subbed. Also please note that while this dragon does exist on FR, she is NOT part of the FR world. When I first started and discovered I was able to create her, I went ahead and did so. But she is not a FR dragon. I created her years and years ago.)

((Sorry real life got really busy))

"Not clan, and I'm only worried because she is a better neighbor than the ones before or the others that border my territory. I would prefer to keep my best neighbor instead of getting one that I don't know." It was true. There was a lung that was upstream from her territory that often dumped the remains of his kills and other manmade objects into the river where it would flow downstream to dirty the waters of her own home.

Ellysia at least was polite enough to keep the waters of her home clean. So Sycra would prefer it if the dragoness kept her territory. Her wings stretched upwards so that she could see the smaller silver dragon better. The other looked to be fine and her colors flared a calm shade of blue for a few seconds before focusing once more on the wyvern.

Her lights finally went out as she relaxed into a sitting position. The wyvern body language set her on edge though. Despite its calm words and actions it appeared to be rather tense. Her golden eyes examined the green scaled male once more before noticing the way that it seemed to be clutching something in one of its claws.

"I offer my apologies for my trespass neighbor. I will make sure to offer recompense for this slight."

@/FlamesEmbrace It’s all good, real life always come first! Just checking in was all ^^))

Once the other dragons in the clearing had began lowered their own hostility, coming out of the brush and calming the light-show, Luca allowed his own posture to relax more. The tension and adrenaline slowly draining had started to make the ache on his shoulder and hip more evident, but he brushed it off for the time being, just being glad that he and his charge hadn’t gone from one conflict to the next.

“Call me Luca, and this is Zio,” he gestured to the ‘human’ below him. “Thank you for your hospitality Ellysia, though I would hate to burden your lands without offering anything in return,” He spoke up after Sycra had given her apology, not wishing to be overly rude to the ‘neighbor’ and cut her off. “I’m sure we could come to some sort of agreement though, between some sorts of craftsmanship or collection...” The wyvern was fairly good at a few forms of crafting in hisbhuman form, though should none of that be of use to the dragoness gold and jewels as repayment wasn’t usually refused by most. “...I’m sure my charge could do with some sleep.”

“And food?” A tiny voice came from below.

“Perhaps, if Ellysia doesn’t mind others hunting her land.” He’d looked down at the smaller dragon when he spoke, turning his attention back to Ellysia after a moment. After all it was her territory, they’d just... accidentally crashed there.

Zio shuffled her weight a bit, motioning the larger dragons to lean down so she could speak to them considering their size. Whether the other two had or not, Luca did so, Zio speaking quietly so only those down close to her could hear: “What about the other dragon over there?” She pointed toward where the newcomer was amongst the shrubs and trees, still hidden underneath Lica enough that said newcomer wouldn’t yet notice her aside from scent.

Those words put Luca back on edge slightly, though he forced himself to stay a more neutral pose as he’d been when discussing arrangements with the dragoness’. His nostrils flared in sniffing the air closer to the ground, the human scent now cutting away to something very very mildly reptilian when focusing and having his nose down closer to human height. Just a moment ago he’d brushed it off as human, a short smell of the air from any dragon would have liked yeilded the same results...

...but Zio didn’t need to use scent to identify other dragons. Not with the pelt color she had underneath her human guide.

The wyvern lifted his head, blue eyes shifting between the two dragoness’. A dragon hiding their true nature was always fickle. For one reason or another they didn’t wish to be caught, which he could respect on some level, but just as easily it could be someone doing so with malicious intent. Still, he wasn’t going to go try and grab the other just yet seeing as how this wasn’t his territory nor right beside it. The moment of silence had seemed a lot longer than the few seconds it had actually been, allowing the two dragoness who lived here to be the judges of what actions would come next.
