TOPIC | Marketplace Cooldown
1 2
I'm sure I'm going to receive a lot of "No Support" for this one, but hear me out.

I'm suggesting a cooldown period of 2-5 or so seconds between Marketplace purchases. I have no problems against people who snipe for profit. What I have a problem with is the increasing amount of auto-click users, and setting a limiter per account would cripple their ability to do that. They're unidentified, but people have seen them bragging about using auto-clickers on FR from other websites. You can deny that they exist, but you should also know that auto-click programs have been around for years.

I don't know how difficult it would be to even program something like this into the game, a limiter like this exists when you make too many forum/message posts back to back. Just something has to be done, because I'm even hearing from snipers that are struggling to get items from the MP these days, so I can only imagine how "fun" the game is being for casual players.

It wouldn't really get in the way of casual players buying multiples of common items because the time clicking between confirmation screens and the refresh after each purchase would be about as long as a cooldown.

What a limiter will do:

  • Prevent AC users from sniping more than 1 item per market refresh.
  • Disable AC users who "set up shop" from more than one computer to snipe multiple times during the same second.

FR allows you to be logged into more than one device at a time, since iPads and mobile devices are a thing. It's a feature I'm grateful for because I can check FR from the iPad while playing Coliseum on the computer. My computer's actually slower than the iPad (but it can't run Coli).

P.S. Please do not ping me, I will check back on this forum regularly.

It's definitely a valid idea to consider.

This doesn't seem like a bad idea, actually.
Granted it would probably prevent legitimate snipers from getting more than one high-demand item per refresh, but considering how fast these things sell out...I imagine they're pretty lucky if they can do that anyway.

Aside from that, I can't think of any downsides except maybe a slight annoyance? Maybe?

I would prefer an increase in restock. I know the resellers like to snarl at anyone who suggests that, but, as someone who's been here since the September window, the stock rate hasn't increased since and that is beyond ridiculous.

It is a nice idea, but then it could also work against the legitimate buyers. I'm not saying it's bad, just... neutral from me.

No support. Instead of forcing limitations on legitimate players find other ways to stop the autoclickers and crack down on players who use them.

Waiting five seconds between purchases is annoying, especially when you are buying multiples of things. There have been numberous times I've bought five or six name change scrolls in one go especially when I can usually buy two or three name change scrolls in five seconds. Also this would become quite annoying during holidays when players are trying to grab different skins or multiples of skins

@DragonSage It wouldn't necessarily have to be 5 seconds. Even 2 or 3 would be enough considering how quickly things get bought out. Most people would spend as many or more seconds clicking through to the confirmation on the next purchase, so it wouldn't bother legitimate players all that much, but it would disable people who have auto-click set up on multiple devices.

No Support, I'm not even convinced there are autoclickers in the MP yet but if there are, another way to disable them from clicking should be found. I find it difficult enough buying things in the MP, no need to punish myself and other legit players.

Not everything sells out quickly. It might help with new release items, but for older items that stick around, it will be annoying. I am of the opinion that if it has the possibility of hindering legitimate players then we don't need it.

Not everyone can log into multiple devices. Despite having always keep me logged in checked, if I log in on a different device, the origional device I was on automatically logs me out. I'm not the only one affected by this, there's a suggestion floating around requesting that it be possible to log into multiple devices.

Snipers are often as fast or faster than the people running machines, to be honest. I often buy smoke in less than a second. I have to.

Pings are disabled.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
