TOPIC | Surrendering a nest

The deal is, Flight Rising used to have a feature called egg rot, where if you didn't take care of the nest, the eggs would eventually rot and you could discard them. I realize why it was a good idea to remove this feature, but now players have no way of discarding nests they don't want/can't hatch.

There's a lot of reasons why discarding eggs would help players, from lore reasons to saving lair space to whatever, but let me be totally honest: that's not why I'm suggesting this. I'm just a dumb idiot who accidentally bred the wrong dragon two years ago, and now everyday for TWO YEARS I have to see "Regret" and "Stupidity" in my progen's lineage box. And whether I exalt them or keep them, those names will never go away. And I know there's a lot of other players out there on this site who have done something very similar, and we all wish there was a way to undo our mistakes. But as simple as a feature as it would be, there is no way to undo our mistakes, and this is an issue that makes a drastic difference to our lore.

  • Surrendering a nest will not remove the breeding cooldown.
  • There is no monetary value or reward to surrendering a nest.
  • A small red button would say "Surrender Nest"
  • A box would pop up when the button is clicked and say "Are you sure you want to surrender [female dragon]'s and [male dragon]'s nesting eggs?
  • Someone can make up a story somewhere, somehow about how this is why you find random eggs while gathering items or fighting in the coliseum.
  • The "Eggs Discarded" stat in the Account Settings page will once again have a purpose.

I've never understood that argument. Nest discarding is no more related to 'death' than exalting, but you still get people saying exalting dragons is sending them to slaughter. (???)

I'd love this ability. Or even the ability to lock dragons out from breeding altogether to prevent these mistakes. Either way, support!

@thecatsred I agree! Exalting a dragon to a deity is basically just killing the dragon. But I think people get the idea that because it's baby dragons, it's more.. morally wrong? I don't know. I guess I understand, but not being able to remove nests is an issue for some players.

I really like your idea about being able to lock dragons breeding ability. Can I edit that into my post? I'll ping you for credit. I think it's a very proactive alternative to my suggestion.

I've always supported a way to get rid of nests, and there doesn't have t obe any backstory to it at all (I have always been fond of the idea that this is how beastclans get eggs and why you find eggs in various places)

There are multiple ways to use a discard egg: parents realize they can't take care of the nest and know it won't hatch (but eggs will be safe) or they are so forgetful they forgot where they laid it. Beastclans raiding, other clans raiding etc...

I also agree that cooldown for the parents remains.

Also, no cooldown on using it. If someone wants to put all their dragons on cooldown by discarding the nests, let them, no tie in with exalting at all, I don't really think there should be a treasure fee for it.

@AlligatorFeet

I don't now if you miss typed, but according to official lore exalting a dragon is NOT killing the dragon, but giving it the highest honor you can give them. (you can absolutely have it as your personal lore, but officially it isn't)

@Jemadar I agree that there should be no monetary benefit to surrendering/discarding a nest. Also I did not know that about exalting D: thank you! I hate to admit it, but I never took the time to read all of the official lore for Flight Rising.

*shh* neither did I, ;) But I have read some Q&As and picked up various things from the forums while I have been here (much like this, where I say something and someone else corrects me)

But yeah, exalting (and even the word itself has nothing to do with death but honoring someone) is considered a great honor to dragonkind as they are able to serve their deities in a more immediate fashion than the rest of the clans. According to official lore of course.

Personal lore is much more flexible and people have come up with a variety of meanings to exalting.

I agree this should exist.

If you accidentally bred a dragon you didn't want to breed, this would be nice.

Surrending the eggs would also be good if you don't have lair space

Support. There should be a cancel option on any feature that so permanently changes a users commodities.

Support but with the caveat that there be an option to discard egg by egg. I have some pairs I'd like to have a single hatchling for lore reasons.
