I'm posting this tentatively, since I'm not really sure if this has been brought up before.
Other pet sites (namely lioden) sometimes have a separate forum for users who are 18+ to use. Aka, it's optional, the site doesn't separate you by age but if you're over 18, you are able to access this forum and talk about... adult stuff, idk. What do you guys think? Could it benefit the site?

I don't think it would benefit the site at all. Its one of things where if it had started with it things might be different, but now? No, it would likely just cause problems, and we don't need more problems.

SoulOfChaos, but what kind of problems are you talking about? I've seen multiple other sites do this with no issue at all. What kind of problems do we have now?

Please no. We really don't need this. Everyone on the site is pretty mature, we've had no problems up to now. If you want to talk about things not meant for this site, use a Discord.

What would the adults talk about in those forums? I always stay clear of these forums wherever they are available. The things I can think about that we don't discuss and belong to 18+ forums involves sex, drugs, politics and religions, all are very controversial and can easily lead to heated debate. I'm not sure why we would need them on a pet site? There are more serious sites for people to talk about serious stuff. No need to involve all games into serious debates.

Mongoose, I used "adult" for lack of a better word- I was thinking more along the lines of politics, gender/sexuality, religion, etc.

I don't really think this is needed on FR. There are other sites more suited to adult oriented conversations.

I have to agree with the majority here.
This is Flight Rising, a site about dragons. It is not a site geared towards discussing 'adult' topics.
Also, 18+ areas DO cause problems on other sites: For one, many people 18- will often lie about their birthday to access those areas.
Two, those topics were once allowed in GD, but many have been banned due to immaturity about dealing with opposing opinions.
Three, this would mean more moderation to make sure that topics not allowed in 'all' forums don't leak there and that 18- people don't lie about their ages to gain access to the 18+ forums.
