The last few Swipp updates have ended up using item that are already used to trade with Swipp for other items.
Mangled Textile, Moth Eaten Rug, Firestarter, Wispy Foxtail, Umbral Yarn, Fossilised Fish I can see so far without trawling through the Baldwin items. Some items such as the birdskull apparel it makes sense for, but others I'm not sure if it was simply forgotten that the items were used before, or done on purpose?
I hope with the thousands of items available on the site that duplicate uses can be easily avoided in the future as it seems to be a more recent trend.

Flight Rising: Where people spend thousands of gems to make dragons look pretty and then cover it all up with clothes and skins.
Things like Fossilised Fish, aren't that bad, because they're 1-star gathering items, gotten from digging, I think. Same with the Rug and Textile. There is a healthy supply of them.
Same with things like Firestarter, who is also a 1-star item from the easiest coli venue.
It's with things that are rarer that's troublesome. Umbral Yarn was used to match the Silky Yarn, which makes sense, but it's still annoying :(
(Still nowhere as annoying as the Ancestral Incense and Dusk Jadevine requirements, but still)
tldr - it's fine to have duplicates of low rarity materials, but let's be careful with rarer stuff, staff

I fully agree with this. Not sure what else to add. We have a diverse item pool, so let's see some unique items for Swipp and Baldwin.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
To me the umbral yarn is especially frustrating because they had JUST added another shiny purple yarn item that could have easily been used.

Like above, one-star, low-level stuff is fine to duplicate. If anything, it'll drive up the price of that low-level stuff and finally make it worthwhile to have like 5 stacks of those stupid bulbs or twigs or whatever.
Stuff that's higher up should not be used as frequently. Boss items are a one-time thing and shouldn't be touched again if they've already been implemented.

Yeah I agree with this. There are SO many items on site that still aren't used for anything, and are basically only worth it to be melted in Baldwin. So why use duplicate items? It makes no sense. There are always other choices.

I could see a repeat of items, even low-value items, if there were thousands to choose from. Some items are totally useless in every way. They do nothing, they're not used for swaps, they can't be eaten, they aren't used for Baldwin.
And others have multiple uses. I don't see the point in doubling up on uses when there are so many to choose from.

UK time. Sorry for timezone-related delays in responses. They/Them.
Yes please! There are so many items, it shouldn't be hard to find something suitable that would not force people to choose what to spend their hard-earned rare stuff on...
Also, let's maybe not have Baldwin recipes that require a load of a thing that Swipp also wants for something! (Not sure if that's happened yet but it might...)

Runestones are the main source of problem right now!
Needed for the elemental tomes, and a couple of them are used for Swipp trades. (Darksong Haori, Lightsong Mask, Crimson Leg Silks)

Support, at least for harder to get items.
Someone mentioned boss drops, and that's a good example too, especially if it's not the food item. No using those more than once unless it's a very small amount in Baldwin or something.
For common items, like 1 star ones I can see being used more than once, since they're not hard to get! But even then, lots of items still don't have a use, so why are there duplicates to begin with? Not counting the sets of course, since that makes sense, like with the Aqua Birdskull things as mentioned.
But yeah using the Umbral Yarn a second time's a bit much, considering I can go hours of farming and not have enough, especially considering the dress takes 55 already. Oof.
