kinda like how neopets lets you name your petpet! it could be unequippable if someone were to sell the familiar, or just have a scroll of renaming specifically for familiars
i think itd be pretty cool to be able to name familiars! say if someone has lore on their dragon that they have a very specific familiar with a specific name. well, thatd be able to happen if something like this was implemented!

Easiest way would be not to apply a nickname rather the familiar but just add a text box near the familiar box on the dragon page and allow players to type a name there
Of course then we could have ‘Bob’ the invisible when no familiar is attached but a name is still entered

I support this ^u^ Being able to "name" our familiars would be nice, and if it were on the familiar box instead of tied with the familiar then it shouldn't be too much of a problem!

Well, I'd say this reason alone is good enough for me. An eternal youth dragon and their imaginary familiar.

I LOVE this as a lore idea! The one thing would be that it would have to be separate from the familiar name. I.e. the nickname doesn't replace the type of familiar.
