Yeah. That’s right. It’s back with a vengeance. I get why not but it’s not proper grammar since Arcane is like fire or water in the sense it’s used. Sprit of the Arcane doesn’t match up and to be honest I feel it slightly undermines the element. No extreme hate okay? Just understand that Arcane is an element.

What's the suggestion? Or did you post in wrong forum :O

No support. This is what happens when one of the Flights is an adjective and the rest are nounds–and I don't think consistency is worth the irritatingly poor grammar.

yes, normally it is. but in this sense, it is a name of an element. Arcane is a whole flight, like it or not it isn't fair to make ours different on account of infact, wrong grammar. in this sense it becomes a noun under being, again, a name. simple noun rules: Person, Place, Thing, or Animal. Arcane is a thing, like fire, wind or ice. It's like naming a clan a verb or adjective. i mean no offense, but take this matter seriously and will use all of my knowledge of grammar to make this right.

@Vendrus under that simple idea,i think spirit of the ice sounds rather nice. i understand, i really do. and i know this reason is stupid, but it bothers me only my flight has this change. i mean jeez, "Thanks Arcanist" jokes already make me feel ever so slightly undermined...but my familiar standing out isn't fair. We're not the total textbook definition because as the broken record i am, we're a flight, not an adjective in this case.

Especially when you're dealing with a fantasy world. "Arcane" here is both a noun and an adjective.

Arcane (the flight) is a noun. Arcane (the characteristic) is an adjective. Since the Spirit of (the) Arcane is referring to the Arcane flight, the term should be used as a noun and the familiar name is an actual grammatical error.

[/quote] I don't think it is being used as that, tho. I don't think that these as spirits of the flights themselves, but spirits embodying elements. So you can have Spirit of Ice, but for Arcane, Spirit of the Arcane still sounds better.
