TOPIC | Change Cloudberry Item Names
1 2
Hey, so, I know the plumed items were named after edible fruits/berries of the same color. But there's just one problem with the Cloudberry items. This is a cloudberry It's not white. It's not even remotely white. I propose to change the name to a fruit that's actually white. Examples include: Jicama White Apple Pitaya or Dragonfruit Just...something actually white, please. [s]Yes I know snowberries are a thing but they are poisonous to humans[/s]

It's not white. It's not even remotely white.

I propose to change the name to a fruit that's actually white. Examples include:

Jicama

White Apple

Pitaya or Dragonfruit

A lot of things are named incorrectly if you look at the RW counteerparts. While that vexes me too people keep on saying that we need to remember that sornieth isn't earth. That is why granny smith apple is sweet instead of sour, the distelfink is called a sparrow here, imagos are called nyphs, cloudberries are purple.

IF they one day decide to go with their RW counterparts and rename stuff they need to fix all of those. Until then though... I guess I can live with this strange universe where dragons exist and nothing seems to be as I know it.

Honestly, the real cloudberries should change their names, because they don't look like clouds.

>plumes: fluffy like clouds
>clouds: white
>berry: going along with the theme but sorta irrelevent admittedly

Seems fine to me, personally.

I didn't know cloudberries were a real thing before now <: are they common?

I thought it was just a made-up name for the apparel and so it seemed like a fine, logical name to me. Maybe it's not based on the actual real life fruit if the fruit is not common and the people who named the item set didn't know it existed

The sparrows are actually European goldfinches! This isn't earth, we don't need to match up all the names heh

If I made a list of everything ever named in every piece of media after something that actually exists/existed that isn't accurate, the sun will die before I finish.

If they are even named after them? I sure haven't heard about them before now, and I prefer to assume not knowing above all else.

So, I really don't support unless everything gets changed. Which. Already have a couple more examples here, I don't want to think about how many we could rack up.

Support, to be honest.

I disagree with Ismaiel. If you're going to name something with the same name as something on Earth, at least try to be accurate. It just shows a lack of research when things are named that way and 'Oh, well on SORNIETH obviously they're WHITE' just makes the items sound stupid, or the people who named them look uneducated.

UK time. Sorry for timezone-related delays in responses. They/Them.
I'd support, if we actually had alternatives. None in OP work.

Pitaya are mostly known for being pink, even if a yellow one exists, so that one wouldn't work. The same reason why Banana wouldn't work, even though banana flesh is pale white.

White Apple is clunky, and apples aren't known to be white. Colors associated with apples are red and green. Not white.

Finally, Jicama are not fruit. They're root vegetables.

The closest we have are snowberries ( who are actually poisonous to humans, so don't eat them)
