TOPIC | Release the old bows as separate apparel
I didn't see a thread for this yet surprisingly, so I decided to make one myself.

I adore the new bows, but I'm very upset that they decided to just change the old bows' artwork instead of releasing them separately. It's ruined the look of some of my dragons (Especially the buttercup bows), and for some dragons I preferred the single ribbon neck bow to the newer one.

The older bows could be re-released under another name, or maybe the newer bows under a new name? Either could work.

I guess I would be alright if they just released the old color for Buttercup bows as a new set, but I preferred the look of the older bows on certain dragons, especially since the new ones are bigger and take up more space (On one dragon it covers up more of his accent than I would like)

I can see why people would be unhappy, but if we keep all the old mid-quality art we'll end up with dozens of near-identical sets and mixed quality art. No support. We'll get more sets of apparel in more varieties of colour and it's highly likely people will find something they like as a replacement.

Not to be "that guy" but... they never do this. Every time something new comes out, we get the suggestion for "bring it back somehow". The updated art is updated art. The old stuff hasn't ever come back.

And I agree with Vendrus in that there's a lot to be said too for maintaining art quality. The bows were old as heck—they really didn't look good with the cleaner style of the new stuff.

No support. The staff updated the art because it no longer fit with the art style of the site. The bows are not the first nor last apparel set to get an update. The staff cannot release a new apparel set every time they update apparel. We'd eventually have a lot of old apparel on the site that doesn't fit in anymore and it would be a huge mess.

The staff are bound to upset some people with each apparel update. It just can't be avoided if they're going to make sure that all of the apparel stays updated with the site's evolving art.

There was even a suggestion to "bring back the old Roundhorns" when the reason they were revamped was not just because they were outdated art, but they also looked really bad on most dragons because the angles were wrong perspective-wise making it so it was obvious they were copy-pasted. No support. These were updated for a reason (though I feel like the colours shouldn't have been tweaked as much. Why is Buttercup so dark and golden now?), they looked flat compared to other apparel pieces and the lines were also too thick. They stood out really badly against a lot of the now current apparel. There's no good reason to keep the old ones around along with the new ones.

We had plenty of notice that they were changing them. I wouldn't mind them releasing more colors (buttercup is COMPLETELY different now, and I can sympathize with people who don't like the new color) but I would not support having the old artwork as a different set. It looked nice for its time, but it began to look outdated after a while. Give it more than half a day and you'll probably look at the old sets and think the same thing :D

The old bows were pretty chunky and dated-looking compared to all of the other apparel released in the last few years, so I doubt they’d bring them back, sadly. :c

I would definitely support a pale yellow (and maybe paler pink) bow set, though! I like the golden Buttercup bows, but it’s a pretty drastic change from the cute pale yellow... I don’t know why they made it so vivid.

They could also make a set of smaller bows, as well. While I can’t see them returning the old bow art, I think new, somewhat smaller bows would be some nice variety.

I have to agree with everyone else here. The reason they update artwork is to keep consistency, and I believe that the benefit of keeping consistently improving/better artwork sitewide outweighs the cost that is changing an aesthetic people are used to (because, let's be honest, the old aesthetic is lower quality than the new. That's why they update).

I think the colors should have stayed in the same range as the old bows- I've seen valid complaints that the yellow bows are now much more warm and saturated and don't match other pale yellows now. But I fully support FR staff updating their apparel artwork to keep up with art improvements :)
