TOPIC | Browse Dressing Room Apparel

I think it would be beneficial to have a Browse option for the Dressing Room, rather than just typing in what you want. Sometimes the names of older items are forgotten, or you have an idea of a piece of apparel but you don’t know what it is called. For example, if I wanted a snake companion for my dragon, but I just typed in “snake”, only two of the five snake companion apparel would show, because they all have different names. [center][item=corn snake][item=rattle snake][item=ball python][item=green tree python][item=red-tailed boa] With the browse option, you could either search or just click through the categories to find what you like. To condense the list, perhaps it could be divided by set instead of by every item individually.[/center] [b]Edit:[/b] My friend added that we could also possibly have a “similar items” browser (possibly toggled on/off for people who would get annoyed by that) so that if you typed in something like “sword”, for example, the broadswords, cutlasses, and katanas would all become available to view. I understand that this would probably be substantially more difficult, however. [center][item=buccaneer's cutlass][item=katana][item=traditional broadsword]

Yes this would be so useful for me! I never remember what items are called (especially because a lot of FR's outfits don't have the most descriptive names, how do I know that a Helpful Woodbrace is a natural looking purple thing that goes on your legs).

I think searching by colour would be useful because I usually remember what colours items are (I'm very visual) and when trying to come up with outfits that have a specific colour scheme it would be useful.

The idea of generalized tags, ie "witch", "sword", "bracelets" as you suggested would be very useful for the same reason, I know that I want to use a witch hat in my outfit but I don't remember what the specific one I want is called, so the tag would show me all the witch related outfits so I can find what I had in mind.

And I've been on a lot of hiatuses anyways so there are some apparel items I don't even know about, since we don't have a catalogue of apparel anywhere on site, the browse option would allow me to find apparel I never knew I wanted!

Omg support! Also being able to search by colors in some way would be super super helpful, like say I have a brown dragon, i could search for brown apparel and get tan, beige, sepia and all the other browns, cause I can never remeber what the color name of the item im looking for is, or I might find something else that works as well/better.

Unnamed dragons need love too! There is no shame in having unnamed permas, having dragons with unnamed parents and/or offspring, or exalting unnamed dragons! Leaving dragons unnamed is a perfectly valid playstyle!

@Zhukov @Medenadragon I agree that a color option would be quite helpful as well! It would be most practical that the results be a range of all similar colors, like if I typed “green”, items that are more forest or leaf colored would show up as well.

Support! I’m not good with remembering names, so making good outfits are impossible for me. I love the idea of color themed searches as well, like if I want to make a night themed dragon I could search purple or smth

SUPPORT!! As a newbie, it's especially hard to find apparel because everything has such weird names. It's kinda turned me off from apparel completely tbh. Take the new festival apparel for example, who's going to ever find that without knowing it's name? No one's going to look at a picture of that and guess that that's called a conflagrant kilt. Unless you know the name already, you have absolutely zero chance of ever figuring out it's name.

Support! This would be very helpful for newer players or for when you don't know exactly what apparel you want

I never knew I needed a color search in apparel until this was mentioned. I could just search Yellow to get opposite-color wheel stuff for my blue dragons, that would be fantastic.

But I'd have to really ask that it be broadly ranged. "Brown" Nets everything from Cinnamon to Copper; "Green" is Spruce to Moss, because I really can't remember the wheel-color names and I find them to be too specific when I'm just looking for a general color (on a dragon, for example).

I think to make things "easy" could we do a preliminary favor for the admins and color-code all the apparel for them? Just agree on the major color groups, then start putting in apparel in, so they can be batch added. I don't know if that would help, but maybe showing that level of initiative might be a good prod?

@Amut
so like:
white= maize-orca
grey= silver-coal
black= oilslick-midnight
purple= shadow-iris
blue= storm-turquoise
green= spruce-moss
yellow= goldenrod-marigold
orange= sunshine-tangerine
brown= cinnamon-copper
red= rust-brick
pink=coral-pearl

like that? I think that would work wonderfully tbh, that way people aren't having to guess the names of long forgotten apparel just trying to match this one specific color or accent on their dragon.
