TOPIC | 'Downgrade' Eye-vial or boon
What would everyone think of an item that allowed you to drop a dragon's eye color to the next-lowest rarity tier?

Specifically from Rare -> Unusual or Unusual -> Uncommon; would also work for Uncommon -> Common, but not really necessary, we already have Tempered vials for that.

Also, possibly, if you use it on a dragon with a special eye type (Faceted, Multi, Primal, or Glowing), they'd drop to Rare.

This would be less likely to ruin the market for scattervials, because you'd still need them to get a rarer type (in fact, some players might be more likely to use them because even if you get a result that's a notch or two too high, you could easily remedy that), while still offering more control when it comes to matching.

I can see this being useful for breeding projects and project dragons. I like that this doesn't just give you the eye type you want: you might have to use a few for what you want. It would work well with the the Vial of Scattersight (as you pointed out).

Overall, I think this is a nice compromise, and doesn't make things too easy for players.

Oh, I like this.
The only thing I wonder is how future eyes will figure in to the rarity tiers we have... and if they would then but included in such an item.

@Almedha

For future special types (either gem MP or natural types that are <5% liklihood when hatched/scattervialed), probably also drop them to Rare.

Types that you can obtain other ways (treasure MP, coli, Baldwin, etc) might need to be handled differently. Possibly you would need to scattervial a dragon with one of these types to a natural type before they would be eligible to use the downgrade item.

Again, this is in deference to not devaluing scattervials (which isn't very important to me personally, but I know many have invested in them).

Going by this chart, vialing gets you Rare type around 20% of the time; so if you had a Common/Uncommon/Unusual-eyed dragon you wanted to make Rare, it would take roughly 5 scattervials.

If the cost of a new vial type + cost of downgrade item = less than the cost of 5 scattervials, people would choose that option instead.

Good a time as any to bring this back up, since it's been confirmed that scattervials are retired for good.

Again, factoring in Goat, my instinct is that using a downgrade vial on a Goat would drop it to Rare.

Support! This is a fun idea, and I don't think it would hurt the economy since it's a downgrade, not an upgrade.
