i think that eye genes should be similar to the other genes. what i mean is, right now,if you were to breed a dragon with glowing eyes with another dragon with glowing eyes, the odds of a hatchling born with glowing eyes is still the same (as far as i can tell) as if the parents had different eye genes than glowing. so im hoping in the future it will become more likely to get a dragon with the eye type you want if the parents eye types are the same as the one you want. :D thanks for reading my idea!

No support - the reason why it's as it is is to give everyone the same chance of hatching something cool, newbie or veteran. I really like that something like that exists, and it has made breeding more interesting to me than it's been in a very long time.

@MekosFace
FYI, dragons can't be born with glowing - that's an MP-only eye type! Just in case you were trying to breed for one :)

Support, kinda. What I mean by kinda is, if you breed dergs the offspring should have a higher chance of having an eye type of one of its parents but not a guaranteed chance of getting one of their eye types.

Eg, breeding primal + mulitgaze gives higher odds of hatching dergs with those eye types, but it can still get all the other eye types.

This would keep rare eye types rare, while also allowing us to manipulate the odds somewhat. It's a little too random as it is.

Honestly, ANY way to boost the odds of a certain eye type is good, though I wouldn't want a guarantee of getting rarer eye types. Also, I feel like dragons with glowing eyes should be able to pass it down to their children, though with a low chance.

Hope I explained this well.

[/quote] now this i'd not mind...but not too high, just a good bit of extra luck. i mean i know it's caused by magic, but i feel if you have that kind of eye magic, there's at least 15% chance more your kid will have it vs 0 or 100.

TBD
IMO, eyes should have been introduced as a fourth gene--at least then we wouldn't have the problems we do now.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
I like the randomness of eye type and the surprises they bring, but at the same time I'd like to have some control over them as well, so I can support for a small increase of chance for special eyes if the parents have them, but no support for guaranteed outcomes.

:/ i guess thats fair but id like it to be a good amount more likely than just a little bit, like make 30% more likely? idk...

I definitely do not agree with making it like the other genes, where if you breed two parents with the same eyes you'd be guaranteed to have offspring with those eyes. No support of that front.
However, i do like the idea of it increasing the chances, say you breed two multigaze, your chances go from like 1% to maybe 5% or a max 10%. Still very rare, but slightly easier to get.

#UnnamedIsValid
Unnamed dragons need love too! There is no shame in having unnamed permas, having dragons with unnamed parents and/or offspring, or exalting unnamed dragons! Leaving dragons unnamed is a perfectly valid playstyle!

she/her or they/them
I believe there is a way of going about this that will make everyone happy, I think the eyes should only behave partially like genes; what I mean by that is having a higher chance of two parents with more rare eyes have a higher chance of producing an offspring with rare eyes but is no means guaranteed. Pretty much the staff could implement a fail chance of eye genes passing.

There are other sites with eye genes that have been able to keep the communities happy, simply make it more likely for eye genes to pass on but no means guaranteed, Its better then it just being random.
Pretty much why not just implement a fail chance of mutated eyes passing, the more rare the eyes the less likely the gene is to pass.

I think it'd be best honestly if eyes could still be as random as they are now for common-eyed dragons, but anything else would influence the nests of the children. Not the the extent that genes do, but just tipping the RNG a little.

To be honest. having no way to influence the RNG eyes makes them a little... boring to me. If I get something cool I want to get it because I tried.
