Like, I've been trying to buy one of these in the treasure market but people who just snipe them ruin it for poor players, new players, etc, because they can't get them.

They're overpriced and aren't even worth that much (I think they're around 100kt in the market.)

Why isn't there anything to be done about this?

Or is there even anything that could be done?

Image redacted, because publicly calling out other players for whatever reason is a violation of the Rules & Policies

It’s called paying for convenience. You either pay for it now (with a bit of an extra fee) or you wait for it in the MP.
It’s also called playing to the supply/demand. If demand for an item is high, you can bet that people are going to cash in on it by flipping them for higher prices.

And no, there’s nothing that can be done since the AH is a player-run market.

Also... how exactly is this a suggestion? You’re not proposing a solution to this “problem”, you’re just complaining about how other people play the game.

These are brand new items. The price is going to be high for a while until more get into circulation. If Player A wants them ASAP, A will probably have to snipe or pay higher in the AH. If A waits, the price will probably drop and stabilize. Most items do except those that wind up very, very popular (example: wolf skins).

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
Supply and demand, they are new so supply is low and demand is high. Even if some poor soul sold a handful for 101kt, the items would be snatched up and flipped for the higher price within seconds. Even if they couldn’t sell them in the action house, then they would just use the sales forums or sell them on other sites like tumblr, leaving the AH empty until the prices naturally equals out
Fortunately, you don’t need these items to play, and the price will go down with time as more of them item enter the market, so if your patient you won’t have to pay any mark up at all (:
But the prices above? They are “worth” that price if people are buying them at that price, which they are. Like how heavily do you wanna regulate prices? Only marketplace items? Familiars? Gene/breed scrolls too? What about cycling items? It would make no sense.

Unfortunately, this is a valid part of the game. When items are in demand, they sell out of the MP quickly, and you have to buy from the AH if you want them *now*

I want some of the new apparel sets as well, but I willing to wait for the hype to die down before I buy them.

Also, how would this be solved? Letting people only buy X of the item from the MP? What if they wanted it for all their dragons? Not letting people list it on the AH? That would most likely kill the game as the AH is a valuable part of the site. Prevent them from listing on the AH for a period of time? As Verdant pointed out, these items would be sold through PMs and CRs and on other sites.

Staff should not dictate what players charge for their items, so I’m not really sure what you think CAN be done about this.

Be patient and the AH prices will drop.

Sorry but no, people can play the game how they want, they're hurting no one. This is how some people make money, banning it would be controlling how people play the game. Just wait a week or so.
