TOPIC | IC/PC Threads Removed from Dragon Share
1 2 3
I’m not sure whether it’s been suggested before, but personally I’ve grown a little tired of people using Dragon Share for their “Interest Check/Price Check” threads. I myself have done this once or twice before, simply because at the time I didn’t know that was what Dragon Sales or Help is for, but since everyone is now using Dragon Share, something needs to be done to fix it. Either these threads need to be moved to Dragon Sales, or a new forum needs to be made specifically for helping people price their dragons and see whether anyone is interested in them/their offspring. Overall there’s just too many IC/PC threads in Dragon Share, which isn’t what that forum is for since it isn’t sharing or showing off dragons. Edit:
Dragon Share is getting the overflow from Help where we tell them to check the AH, G1 Hoarders list and/or ODCA depending on what's relevant. I think a dedicated forum to shove all those threads into would be great.
On top of this, the Dragon Sales Forum tends to move rather quickly, given that hatcheries and other sales threads are (usually) routinely bumped. IC/PC threads would get lost in Dragon Sales if they weren’t bumped in the same way. So maybe a “Sales Help” forum (or something similar that’s specific about being for IC/PC threads) would help with that?
Support: 7 Undecided: 2 No Support:
Yeah, I agree.

IC/PC should only be in Dragon Sales, imo. I'm not sure where moderation falls upon that, but your suggestion to get them away from Dragon Share makes more sense to me.

IC I can sort of understand, if they are mainly showcasing their dragons with a little 'would anyone be interested if I breed them?' sort of sidenote at the end. But definitely not threads solely for IC.

PC I feel belongs more to either Dragons for Sale or Help, definitely not Dragon Share. I support clarified this.

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?

Though personally I thought the answers we give in Help is sufficient enough?

Mostly I'm tired of explaining "all dragons are worth exalt prices or whatever someone else is going to pay" over and over again. All answers are approximate and players get disheartened or overly excited despite being told the price is subjective. Or they start sending pms asking why their dragon didn't sell/was resold for higher.

I suppose I should just write a single definitive "your dragon is worth what people will pay for it" blurb that covers all the basics and just leave it at that. There's just something about price checks that bounce up and down with spike heels on a nerve with me. A separate forum I never have to see solves the problem for me...but is it worthwhile for the rest of the site? How many more IC/PC occur in other forums?

@Nightwind I’d imagine the “Rules” sort of locked thread posted by admin pertaining to that specific Forum would explain that sort of thing. (Or at least I hope it would.) I’d hope that it would cover basic Pricing Information, such as:
• Pricing is subjective - You can always check AH prices for similarly genes dragons with similar color ranges/eye types/etc. for the average and lowest pricing. - If you start out pricing a dragon at say, 30kT, but it only sells when dropped to 15kT, the value of the dragon or other hatchlings from the pair which that dragon was bred from is actually closer to 15kT. • Demand is something that is fluid and changing! - With new genes (and very occasionally breeds) being released and various eye types the demand for certain dragons is not constant. • Sending other users PMs when they value your dragons at less than you think is ideal is rude and/or harrassment. (The same applies for when they sell for less than you’d like.) (Edit) • Do not make a separate post asking about the same dragon(s)/pair/etc. in attempt to get different suggestions for pricing/increased interest. - This is something unnecessary that clogs up the forum! (Similar to the way spam emails clog up peoples inboxes!)
Things like that, because I absolutely understand why that’s (possibly more than) irritating to a fair number of users.

I’d hope that it would cover basic Pricing Information, such as:
Quote:
• Pricing is subjective
- You can always check AH prices for similarly genes dragons with similar color ranges/eye types/etc. for the average and lowest pricing.

(The same applies for when they sell for less than you’d like.)

(Edit)
Do not make a separate post asking about the same dragon(s)/pair/etc. in attempt to get different suggestions for pricing/increased interest.
- This is something unnecessary that clogs up the forum! (Similar to the way spam emails clog up peoples inboxes!)

In theory the various Rules, Policies and FAQ threads stickied to the tops of forums should explain stuff, too.

I answer a fair amount of questions so it's not unexpected to get follow-ups on a few. Frankly, your suggested quote pretty much covers pricing. Oddities like old, g1, "special ids" and Roundsey dragons are all outliers with niche markets and wide price ranges.

Absolutely, all possible characteristics dragons can possess in FR ultimately total up to their overall value to prospective buyers.

Generally, explaining the same thing repeatedly to anyone who asks just seems tedious and unnecessary when that information could be added as Rules or Guidelines and be stickies to the top of the the forum itself.

@FishyAeronaut

This might be a good question for a mod. Where should IC/PC go right now? If there's no consensus then this could be a really good, actionable suggestion.

Some players write in multiple times to see if they'll get different price ranges. My short term memory is usually good enough to catch them so I end up either quoting the previous answer or in some sad cases I tell them to lower the price further since prices for that (special something like eyes or new genes) have fallen due to more of that (special something) have been bred.
