TOPIC | 2 Common-Rare Eye Type item options
1 2 3 4
Option 1: an item like Vial of Scattersight that applies a random eye type but only has the basic Common-Uncommon-Unusual-Rare colors as options. (actual Vial of Scattersight remains retired) Option 2: 3 items: Vial of Uncommon Sight, Vial of Unusual Sight, and Vial of Rare Sight. (Vial of Tempered Sight already exists to change eyes to Common) [item=vial of tempered sight] (actual Vial of Scattersight remains retired) Because sometimes you just want a slightly different shade of pixel!!! this isn't about the exotic types at all, which are major game features now. Being able to sliiightly change eye color should just be an option. They can be gem marketplace or Baldwin or even Swipp items, just so long as they are available. EDIT: Bringing this back in light of the addition of the limited Natural eye type vials for new natural eye types (the clanbound Goat vials.)

I would like more ways to give older dragons specific eye types. Some of these dragons are irreplacible, like Spyro because he was given to me by an old roleplaying friend. We've since lost touch and they've quit FR, so if I wanted a Spyro with rare eyes for example, I'd have to use tons of scattersights and that doesn't seem fair to me.

I like the second idea of separating out the uncommon/unusual/rare as separate vials to prevent the annoyance of always getting uncommon by poor luck.

One question is how much would they cost? Glowing is 200 gems. I don't think any of these specialty vials should cost more than glowing.

I'd love to be able to tweak the "commoner' eye types without wasting the scattersight vials. Personally I think 25kt in the treasure MP for vials of specific types would be a more than fair price. Maybe make rare 50-75 or something.

I don't think it belongs in the gem MP, it's not enough of a drastic change, and I hate the idea that them giving us no way to control what eyes we get on a dragon (except by reverting to common) means even for the most plentiful eye types FR gets to bilk people for gems to fix what RNG stuck them with.

@BatCrooks

I would love this so much. Some of the new tints would look amazing on my dragons, but I've held off using scattervials on them in hopes of getting something just like what's been suggested here - it feels like a waste to use up the ones that could give the special types when I don't even want them.

Support! I’ve had dragons that I’d like to put one of the new tints on, but I’m reluctant to use any of my remaining retired Scattersights just for a chance to give my dragons the eyes I want. Especially since Rare eyes have, what, a 5-10% chance from Scattersights or something? Which is silly for a tint change.

The new tints all crashed to fodder prices within a week of release, and they’re not rare to hatch, so there’s nothing “special” or “valuable” about them anymore. People wouldn’t lose out on hatchling sales because Uncommon eyes are worthless anyway, people who missed the Scattersight event could get Uncommon-Rare eyes for their dragons, and everyone gets a more reliable, always-accessible customization option for projects.

I can’t see any harm in Uncommon, Unusual, and Rare vials. :o

One of my favorite eye suggestion is to have a randomized eye vial for (common), uncommon, unusual, and rare. I'd imagine it'd be a 3:2:1 ratio since rare is, well, rarer. But I wouldn't want to see it any more skewed than that.

THEN, we can have individual eye vials for the other three. Multi in Baldwin, Primal in the Coli, and Facet at Swipp. All of which would require a fair amount of elbow grease to earn.

Throw in Legacy vials in the Marketplace, and possibly cycling Scattervials, and I will start throwing happy confetti at the eye update.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
Just want to say for the record that I don't agree with making vials for the super-rare natural types! Multi, Faceted, and Primal can stay random. Basically I do not agree with gemajgall.

Each to their own. However, if they're going to stay random, then we really, really need to have the scattervials cycle or stay available somehow so we can work hard and earn a lot of them to try to put those eyes on our old dragons, should we desire.

I feel either one, the other, or both is more true to the heart of how FR was made. FR has always been about aesthetics AND being able to achieve those aesthetics through hard work. RNG was a very minor player. Many players joined FR hoping to be able to work to achieve their dream dragons.

Having those dragons cut out from this new feature hurts. And keeping it as solely RNG is frustrating and disappointing to everyone who doesn't like gambling mechanics. However, should we have individual eye vials that require effort and/or cycling scattervials, we could get back to those roots.

Irrelevant to my suggestion anyway :) I'm just suggesting that the uncommon-rare ones should be available.
