TOPIC | Please don't Retire Ancient Dragon.

With Ancient Dragons being announced as something to be released during the FR anniversary, I was thinking about how that might work. In previous years, everyone was given one item related to the festivities, and you had to brew the rest. Things like the Celebration Sage Apparel, or the scattersight last year.

The idea that the ancient dragon, or some of the related genes, might be a limited time item makes me very anxious. The imps being this way made sense because they were a kickstarter item. But I would be sad if any of the Ancient Dragons had the same treatment, unless they were also kickstarter dragons.

I would enjoy it more if the ancient dragon was something similar to Nocturnes, cycling in every anniversary so that newer players could access them. Or better yet, that the dragon isn't in any limited quantity. Something like every player gets one, but they're also obtainable in some way, and will not cycle out.

I strongly support the "not cycle out" idea.

Barring off something as huge as an ENTIRE SPECIES from players would be a nightmare cause even if they're breed-able, that means players would have to give each other their dragons if they wanted to get more which can cause a multitude of issues regarding trust etc.

I wouldn't mind cycling (IE, one breed that can only be acquired in the summer, or flip-floping like wildclaw/coatl) but I agree that they should never retire.

Definitely think that the ancients shouldn't be too limited or cost prohibitive. I also don't mind if they cycle, given that the times are explicitly stated and regular, and that they are able to be acquired for weeks/months at a time rather than days.

I wouldn't mind cycled Ancients as long as they're around long enough to get and their release schedule was consistent (Like Nocturns or seasonal vistas).

With the way things have gone lately, they probably will be retired or limited at some point.

That said, hopefully not.

Since they’re basically a new breed, I doubt they’ll be retired.
We really don’t need imp scrolls 2.0

Making the Ancient breeds retired is pretty much a nightmare scenario. If they do anything even close to the last anniversary's "you have three days to get this and then it's gone!" move, people are going to go ballistic.

If they're meant to help tide people over between "modern" dragon releases then making them hard to get seems extremely counter productive especially given all the other ways they are already inherently limited in function.

With how the eyes went? Dear Arcanist, please don't let the means to get any dragon breed or gene be retired.

Pings are disabled.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
If these are both highly limited, and then RETIRED, when they can't be bred with anything but themselves, and also have to adhere to the 5 gen breeding limit - the site will RIOT.

Of this I have no doubt.

They had better be decently available, and never retired.

eta: also I severely hope these aren't in the Coli - only.

I can't use the Coli until those Captchas are fixed or outright removed.
