TOPIC | Grace Period After Flight Change
1 2 3
Hello! I dunno if something like this was mentioned or not, but I thought I'd put it out there just in case.

I think after changing your flight in your account settings, you should have a grace period (3 days or a week or something) to "revert" this for free. A lot of people are probably curious about another flight and want to see what it'd be like to be in it, but might regret the choice after the fact and just want to go back home.

For example, I love the aesthetic of Plague and have always been terribly curious about it and considered using my free flight change many times. But knowing my personality, and overall affection for the meme that is Spacedad, I might regret it. Or I might fall in love with Plague and not regret it at all. But if I do, I'm stuck for 6 whole months and then have to pay 1500g to go back to my original flight. I think for cases like these, it'd be good to have a short "trial" period so to speak.

Being allowed to change flights again should still take 6 months after the original change and cost the 1500g. Just that you should be able to undo the original change itself for free for 3-7 days after it, imo. Thoughts?

I think the trial period should be very short, to avoid abuse, and no access to the in-flight AH, sales forums and dominance forums.

Something close to 48 hours, in a way.

I would support this with a stipulation like Sopheroo's. It took me until my third flight change (to Shadow) until I finally found a flight that just "clicked" with me, and I know I spent many months being pretty unhappy with my clan in the two flights in-between Shadow and the flight I started in.

Fair points guys! I'd agree to no in-flight AH and no dom boosts or whatever else bonus perks. Definitely give access to flight general chat, I'd say, since that's where a lot of the "bonding" with your flight happens, but otherwise I get what y'all are saying :)

No support on account of dom abuse.

Example:

Receiver for OOF raffle uses the grace period to have all the dragons they took count for another flight (all it takes is 41 minutes) and then sneak back after rollover.

I want to live in Theory. Everything works there.

Have you checked the Gem MP for Gene and Breed scrolls before buying an AH listing from me ending in 5g?
Have to agree with Nightwind. People could just switch flights each dom and recieve their benefits for 48 hours, switch back and do it again. But it is a nice idea at it's core!

In space, nobody can hear you scream. BvLIk2K.gif
Couldn't Dom abuse be prevented in that - in the grace period, no exalted dragons count towards Dom and the user receives no Dom benefits?

I support Sopheroo's suggestion of the grace period only being 48 hours and with no in-flight AH, sales forums and dominance forums. I do think that a 48 hour grace period with these restrictions is fair, because sometimes people join a flight and have regrets right away and six months is a long time to be stuck there. I don't support restricting access to the general in-flight forums because seeing your new flight in action helps make the decision about whether or not you're in the right place, but the dominance forums are something I'd restrict in that time period since that has potential for abuse.

I struggle to support this because the only way to implement something like this and not have it negatively impact dominance would be to limit what people can see in the new flight... which, to me, somewhat negates the entire point as many people change flights specifically to go to one that is more or less dom heavy.
