While I think 7 days is much better than what I dreaded (1 day), I have concerns along with other players still about this timeframe.
I think Galore should have items available for something from 12-16 days instead of just 7. A whole month is too long, but 7 days also feels too short. Life gets in the way. Internet outages, school, work, etc. While for most active players 7 days is enough, for those who are still active but can't log in during that time this is going to be a huge blow to them. ESPECIALLY if there are not on-site notices on when Galore has items available to be picked up. (I don't really follow FR social media and I'm sure I'm not alone.)
I also have concerns that with a new npc, this means we'll be getting more events like this. The automatically placed items happened like... 2-3 times a year, I think? To have a whole new npc just for a couple times a year seems like a lot of work. I believe that this means we'll see an increase in events like this to make him more useful. If these events happen often, my main concern is that accounts on hiatus will be forced to leave hiatus in order to pick up items they don't want to miss, possibly ruining things such as the 'we'll feed your dragons if you haven't gone on the site in x amount of days' in order to get an item that we used to just know we'd get and not have to worry about.
While that problem will happen either way, I do think increasing the time you have to take the item will help. Not just for those who are forgetful, but for those who can't actually get online, for real life reasons or just a hiatus.
tl;dr Galore's pick up time should be increased to about 2 weeks, 7 days isn't enough for some players when real life gets in the way and if these events happen more often it could also negatively affect those on hiatus.

As I stated in the main thread, in the same vein that everyone who has an account gets the items as it is currently, I think it would be fair to have Galore's giveaway available until his next giveaway. Still would fix the server strain issue, since it's only tracking whether you've gotten the single available item or not (which would be reset every new item, of course), while it doesn't punish those on hiatus.
Giveaway items aren't supposed to be rare. If staff want one to be rarer than others, they can give something away for one week, then switch to a recolor or something until the next big event.

I'd support at least two weeks-
However I do not think there should be a time limit.
There's no issue currently with Joxar's inventory containing a good amount of items (both old and new), so I don't see why Galore - who is hoarding and guarding these items - will be tossing out old items any time soon - let alone after a week!

How about something completly different?
Lets say i go offline right now, an event happends next week but i return 2 months later.
As far as it sounds now, i would have no chance on getting the items, so how about that One-Week Timer starts the moment i return AFTER the event started.
That could be the day after, a month after or a year after. But the moment i log in, i have One-Week Time to get it (and all the others i missed).
My fault if i miss it.
It would:
1. Still reward active Players as they can get it right away (they get reminded about it via Update & Waystone, as said by Devs)
2. Not punish inactive Players who dont find the time to play the game (if you remember to grab the Items, you have lost nothing)
3. Still take work off the hands of staff/programmers as they dont have to mass throw said Items into hoards.
Cons:
1. There is a constant flag for each item for each Player at Galore, that could be additional work and i dont know to which degree (kinda works like Gathering Turns i think?)
2. "Accidental" Login & forgetting to grab the Items results in losing this limited Item => Possible angry & confused returning Players
tl;dr:
One-Week Timer starts after your next login after the Event went off, instead of when the event starts and ignoring your current online/offline status.

Full support for two weeks. A lot of field jobs I've had have been week on/week off. I've missed a good number of 1 week events on various sites, but I've always been able to find time for two week ones.

Support for at least 2 weeks, it'd give folks a bit more of a buffer in case something comes up suddenly and they're not able to access FR for a while.

Two weeks would make sense. It's a pretty unusual situation that you can't get on for two minutes in that amount of time, and if you're on hiatus you're... on hiatus. Missed out on an entire round of retired fest fams that way, but that makes sense - not here, don't get it.

Do we really need 2 weeks for claiming a reward to active players? If people can't pick up 1 item from an NPC in a week, they could miss an entire flight festival. This is one thing at a time, usually a small bonus. We're not talking about people missing out on a Breed Change: Imperial scroll.
Sure, some of them became valuable over time, but most of the rewards really haven't. Any active player can make way more in less time than those items have gained in value after years anyways.
Plus, only the old ones are really valuable because of the relative size of the playerbase at the time of release compared to what the playerbase grew to. Anyways, if people are worried about value, I feel like they're missing the point of items that are supposed to be fun, not a "gain valuable item to sell" event.

That's a huge con though. The events "never" end then. Which is counter to the items rewarding active players like the staff want and means they can never clean them up. The items will kick around "forever" (until they purge inactive accounts of a certain age, which is pretty likely to happen eventually, so eventually that would allow removing some items from the list).

I am actually ok with a week after seeing a couple people point out that festivals are a week long, actually require some effort (or lucky gathering) to obtain the currency needed to purchase the items and people aren't regularly asking for those to be longer.
I wouldn't be upset if it was extended to 2 weeks but I also don't think a 1 week timeframe is unfair.
