TOPIC | Coliseum Mobile App/Game
Last suggestion about this is over a year old, so I hope it's ok I make a new thread!

I've noticed that coliseum is a real hassle on mobile. The rest of the site works okay on mobile, but with coliseum, it's really laggy and the controls, button sizes, etc are really not optimal. Having only coliseum as a mobile app would be really cool and could even be integrated in a (future?) FR app.
If the Fr team ever releases their API or something, I'd even try my hand at it myself since I have a bit of experience with mobile development and this would be a cool challenge :p so like, team, if you think this is a good idea but don't have the funds to hire a new developer... ^^

For future reference, there is nothing wrong with bringing back an old thread. There is no rule against necroing in the suggestion thread.

I don't have an issue using coliseum on mobile, even the old coliseum worked quite well, and the new coliseum works even better. I actually prefer using mobile coliseum over my laptop. Sure there are a few things that need tweaked but it is quite useable on mobile

I do think the site needs a more mobile friendly layout but I do not think we need an app and the site is slowly introducing more mobile friendly aspects

I personally do not think an app is the way to go due to the costs involved in app development and the fact that an app would likely cause a split in coding time as they would have to code for both browser and app and bug test both meaning new features take much longer to release. A more mobile friendly layout should be fine without the need for an app, especially since the majority of things on the site can already be accessed via mobile.

The site is currently undergoing a complete rewrite. While the site is undergoing the rewrite steps to improve mobile access should be done as appropriate, if they aren't already being done. Once the rewrite is done, if there are still issues with mobile access they should be addressed with updating the mobile layout even more.

If the admins do decide to go down the route of developing an app it should only be after all the issues with the browser version are resolved. In addition if they ever release an app there should not be any app exclusive features.
I've noticed that coliseum is a real hassle on mobile.
It works even better on my phone than it does on my laptop?.. In the end even less support for various partial apps - if the full site is available from my phone's browser, I cannot imagine using an app because then the proposed sequence of actions would be: 1. buy fodder on AH on browser 2. for some reason, close browser and go coli... when coli is also in the browser and doesn't require me to install a new app that may or may not work in my phone 3. close app, go to browser to exalt 4. buy in browser and repeat close browser/open app/close app/open browser.

Coli works fine on the majority of modern mobiles. Full screen is often wonky, but zooming in works great.

It's a lot of extra cost, effort and duplication for no significant benefit, when staff could be working on revsmps and new stuff. No support.
