TOPIC | Blossom for all breeds

(Decided to reword this suggestion since it was very long-winded and somewhat of a ramble)

I would love to see Blossom ported to modern breeds someday.
I'm not saying instantaneously. I'm absolutely cool with brand new modern genes taking precedence over porting ancient breed genes, but I just wanted to express my desire for this tertiary gene to someday, no matter how far away, be available to modern breeds.

I recognise that some people will counter by saying that Ancient genes should stay exclusive to ancient, but I would like to argue that heavily limiting non-lineart breaking genes (or in this case, a gene that breaks the lineart but no more than gembond/firefly/spines - all modern breed genes) might create a new problem.

I absolutely agree that it is true that ancient breeds were created in order to avoid having to port every gene to all dragon breeds, however all I am really suggesting is that just because a gene has been given to ancient breeds, does not mean it cannot then be also given to modern dragons at a later date if popularity justifies it.

Even if we never get blossom on modern dragons, as sad as that might be, I would also love to get word about whether or not there will be any plans to port Ancient genes to Modern dragons at all.
I truly think that it is something that might be worthwhile considering, even if it won't occur often.

Especially considering the fact that Gaolers are ICE flight. When the Nature flight ancient comes out eventually, I would imagine they will also receive blossom. Knowing/assuming this, it makes sense that blossom might have the potential to be also brought over to all breeds someday.

Blossom is my favourite gene to ever come out on the site, and one that I had been anticipating for some time. Seeing it available for all dragons would be amazing.

(Note: I'm probably rather likely to reply to people on this thread, as I find this topic pretty interesting to discuss considering it's somewhat more complicated than I think it appears on the surface. Hope you don't mind that I'm in a talkative mood x'3)

Support. Seems like something that would be very popular (on the level of Runes, I bet) if it were universally available.

In general, I hope we don't see too much divisiveness between ancient and modern genes. Severely line-breaking/pose breaking terts, imo, are the only ones that should stay breed-specific forever.

One thing that makes FR great is the unthinkable number of combinations you can make. Limiting too many genes to single-breed could start to put a damper on that.

We're going to see this thread for every ancient gene now, aren't we? Oh well, knew this was coming. [emoji=pearlcatcher tongue size=2] The staff are able to crank out new genes for Gaolers because they're only drawing them for one base, not all the modern dragon bases. This isn't supporting or against, just saying expect to wait a while if the staff would do this, because it'll take as long as any other gene release before.

@Dagomor I actually agree completely!
Like, I knew writing this that responses would point out how this was just bound to happen for all future genes too.
It's a tricky situation because, on the one hand the idea to make limited genes was to lighten work load for staff and allow things to more consistently be released, which is absolutely amazing.
But on the other hand it produces the problem that genes that have been desired for a while by people might end up being released for specific ancient breeds. Which sort of creates a problem that the site had been working against for a long time (not having any breed specific apparel or genes prior to ancients)

I just had to put forward this suggestion because this gene in particular was really the main gene I had been wanting pretty much ever since I joined the site, but I totally get what you're saying.

I'm totally chill with waiting a while, I just wanted to put forward this suggestion because I figured it would be a good idea to at least announce an interest in having this gene ported over.

@Lyuna

Yeah, I hope no one takes my post too negatively (time to add an emoji, lol). I'm almost positive there will come a gene released to an ancient that has most of the userbase dying to have on modern breeds that the staff then adds to modern breeds. I have no problem with that at all. Also, the staff will need to see suggestions to know when people want that.

@Dagomor Hopefully they won't! You really do have a very valid point.
I think this is a tricky situation in a way. I truly want to see blossom on modern breeds, but I think I really do understand the other side.

Definitely. It’s a good tertiary and we’re always in desperate need of those. A flower tertiary has also been requested by users for quite a while. Of course, I don’t mind if it takes a couple months or so to roll it out for all breeds, but I hope that’s not off the table.

It would also be a shame to see a future actual Nature Ancient not get this or something similar just because “Gaolers did it first.”

My beautiful Wildclaws deserve this blessing from Glademama more than those overgrown Tundras (who can’t even wear pants btw) do anyway lmao

You know I wouldn't have a problem with it just being a gene for gaolers if the flowers were actually super duper weird linework wise that would be impossible to reproduce on modern dragons. But they aren't.

What my friends and I are raving off about is that this is a cute gene that does something different, yet simple. The flowers look on top of the dragon, they have depth. Not many genes do that for modern dragons, if any to be honest in the way Blossom does. Maybe Firefly comes close, but not to the extent of this. I don't know if people want other Gaoler genes on modern breeds and it's still very early in the Gaoler's lifecycle to tell. Gnarlhorns and Shardflank are super cool but I don't have any desire to put them on modern breeds. The idea of cute flowers on all dragons, though, is just so appealing to me.

But it is easier to make genes on one base than on so many others maybe a similar gene is already in the works? I say I support, but we should wait a little while I think to see what users want.
