TOPIC | Don't Show 0-Energy Dragons for Random
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 ... 13 14
Whenever I'm on the home page, I love seeing the pretty dragons that people have put together listed as the Random Dragon, but it's also very disheartening to click on them only to find that their owner hasn't been on in months or more, so the entire clan is at zero energy. While it doubtless would mean missing out on a lot of cool dragons, I'd rather have all the ones that show up come from active clans.

Just because a dragon has 0 energy doesn't mean that the owner hasn't been on in months, or isn't in an active clan.

I realize that there are other reasons for a dragon to be at zero energy, @Corviknight, but it seems like the simplest way to separate them. Besides that, when I check the lair and see that all of their dragons are at zero I can't help but think they're being neglected.

No support. If you want to only see active dragons, go to dragon share. The random dragon spotlight is the only place inactive dragons get to be shown off. Some of those dragons have had countless hours of work put into them, their outfit, or their accent, should their work not be shown in favor of someone’s fodder?

There is absolutely no real benefit to removing “inactive” dragons, so I can’t support this. It’s “random dragon”, not “random dragon, except for the ones that aren’t fed”. If there was an energy restriction it wouldn’t truly be random.

You can look in dragon share or the auction house if you want to see fed dragons :D
Besides that, when I check the lair and see that all of their dragons are at zero I can't help but think they're being neglected.
They're an arrangement of pixels, they can't actually be "neglected" and it's really a choice you make to see it that way. You can just as easily choose to be pleased that dragons that would otherwise probably not be seen at all anymore are getting a little attention and have a brief chance to shine in the spotlight. And that even if their owners are absent the dragons aren't completely forgotten. There's plenty of dragons in "dead" or inactive lairs, why should they be erased from one of the only places that they are freely visible without someone going looking for them? That's part of the history of the game. If it really bothers you then maybe try seeing it in a different context. I like the idea that for the ones with 0 energy it's something like ancestor veneration, when they show up there they are being remembered/honored by someone in else in Sornieth. Some descendant/relative/whoever is taking a moment to celebrate the memory of Great Great Great Uncle Name who's gone but not forgotten. Or that the dragon that's shown is being talked about/remembered at that very moment. Somebody is telling a story about them, singing a song they wrote, using a skill learned from them. Passing on to their hatchlings a bit of family lore about "Cousin Somebody-or-Other and the time he got his head stuck in a ...." It doesn't have to be a negative thing when a dragon is shown that isn't active. It's all in how you choose to think about it. And as someone who likes seeing those dragons just as much as the ones who are fed. I'd be really sad if they all got swept under the rug, because some people choose to see them as something shameful and negative that should be hidden away.

Do dragons suddenly turn ugly the moment their fed-ness drops to 0?... No support.

Here we go again.

Just because Random Dragon you clicked on has zero energy doesn't mean it should be hidden away. That's the kind of thing that could encourage shaming other players for (heaven forbid) not taking care of pixel dragons.

Strange as it may be, there are a number of players who just strictly collect dragons. One of my favourite accent artists has never, in the entire time they've played FR, fed their dragons. They buy everything they want (G1s, gene/breed scrolls, apparel, art, etc.) with the gems they make through their accent shop. They don't breed their dragons, they don't fight in the Coli, and so they don't need to have their dragons fed. And they have some very beautiful and unique dragons who have been showered with love and who deserve an equal chance to be spotlighted in Random Dragon.

And sure players who don't feed their dragons might not get the well-fed daily bonuses, but that's their decision. Doesn't mean they shouldn't be excluded from Random Dragon.

Dead/inactive lairs and zero energy dragons don't affect anyone, except the people who let themselves be bothered by it.

So no support for removing or limiting what dragons can be shown on Random Dragon. It's nice to look at dragons, regardless of whether their owners are active or inactive or have made the decision to not feed their dragons.

No support.

I love seeing the kids/grandkids of my dragons every once in a while on the random dragon spot, be they fed or unfed it still gives me joy seeing one from my fodder's kicking around for 4+ years.

I'm +10H ahead of FR time!
Replies may be slow, so sorry ;w;
Support, always a waste of time to click on the random dragon and 95% of the time find one in a dead lair. I don't really have any pity for those active who want to min-max mechanics by not feeding their dragons. Let this just be another downside to not feeding your dergs.
