This isn't so much a suggestion as an observation...

This site started out fun, but it is very hard to stick with it for more than a couple of weeks. I wasn't a Beta or Kickstarter funder; I am leagues and leagues behind those who created the economy and have all the items and breeds and genes. I'm not upset that they have those things by any means, they worked to get them, I imagine, and all the betas and KS people I've talked to have been very nice. But with the economy driven by their spending habits (and from what I hear they had treasure pretty much thrown at them) it makes it very hard for a new user here to get much of anywhere. I have to save up for days and days at a time if I want to buy a hatchling of a starter breed. Right now all I'm trying to do is breed some Guardians in a fairly broad color range and even that goal looks like it's a year or more away... which is a little ridiculous.

Like many, I have other things to do during the day than grind the Coliseum or do puzzles. Unfortunately, I can't really do much of anything else either unless I have treasure or items which come from games or fighting... I don't foresee myself really achieving much of anything even in the distant future here, because there is no opportunity.

A new user with all the spare time in the world may be able to get enough treasure to grease the wheels. Money breeds money. But somebody who works and could actually contribute financially to the site has no real reason to want to if they don't think they'll ever be able to afford to keep their dragons fed, let alone buy other dragons for breeding or fighting. The breeding cooldown is very very long, it's ridiculously hard to earn treasure- what's there worth staying for if you can't do anything?

I honestly don't know how it can be fixed, but there is a growing divide between the wealthier users (mostly Beta and Kickstarter) and the poorer users (mostly new folks brought in by rumors of a great new site) and I'm not sure you can reasonably expect your new poorer users to stay very long at all the way things stand now, especially with how sharing and pooling resources is being demonized.

@Supaslim

I want to touch on a few points.

To start it out, I'm not a kickstarter or a beta-user, but I've still managed to get three imps and a ton of other dragons. I do have a good deal of time on my hands though, and that let me play the market early on.

I'm not entirely sure how sharing and pooling resources is being demonized--could you explain what you mean? I know plenty of people who are sharing and pooling resources. I've got three or four breeding projects going on the side. I had an extra male who needed to breed to avoid wasting a cooldown and I studded him with a friend for pure profit for the two of us.

Feeding dragons isn't an issue. The people who run into this problem are not using their gathering turns to hunt/fish/gather/etc. You aren't supposed to spend all your gathering turns on scavenging, after all, and this seems to be a fairly common mistake.

There is plenty of opportunity in the game, but it won't be handed to you. A friend of mine, who works and has minimal time has also managed to get three imps--not through hoarding money, but through trading people for things they wanted. She managed to get whole imps for free simply by trading starter breed dragons with good colors to scroll.

All it takes is some patience and motivation.

The entire economy that existed during beta was reset, destroyed.
The economy that existed in pre-release, the couple of days that kickstarter members got to play before it went public, was pretty much crushed the night it went public and all the dragons in the known universe were put up for sale.

No one, and I mean no one, has had "treasure thrown at them." The closest to it are people who received items for backing the kickstarter.
The only thing I'm aware of is, the first few days, new members started with 10k and a boon to hatch our first clutch instantly. 10k is nothing, you can make 10k from Runestones in 15 minutes.
The boon was useful, and I'm sorry people abusing it, making multiple accounts, ruined that for other new members.

Which is why I'm a bit stumped at your situation. The starter dragons, good ones, are for sale for 20k-30k in the auction house.
It does not take days to make 20k. It takes less than 20 minutes, which as tedious as it is if you don't like Runes is still perfectly accessible to everyone.
While it's a bit much if you don't have a lot of time, a person can make 50k an hour.

I joined the night it was opened to the public. It isn't an insurmountable challenge to get started, just slow.

It gets easier if you are willing to play the games for a little bit at least, get some dragons. Level your two starting dragons while you wait, for what time you can play the game.

I also won't lie if you check my lair, I'm out of class for the summer and not working while I recover from surgery. I was not given anything, just an abundance of free time. I am not beta or kickstarter either, it did not cripple my ability to earn money.

I've not seen any of this pooling of resources being demonized either, but I'm sorry you've encountered that.
I've seen quite the opposite, with many people, in and out of their flights, working together happily. I thought it was pretty accepted.

@Reitgerte I'm very happy you've done well for yourself, then.

Staff are strongly discouraging the lending of dragons, the pooling of treasure or gems for genes or breed change scrolls, sharing chess sets, etc. Strongly discouraging as in they are calling it cheating and may ban you for it.

http://flightrising.com/main.php?p=mb&board=frd&id=295976&page=3#303604

If I feed my dragons, I have dragons that can't do anything for fifteen days. The most I've gotten out of games since they changed the treasure cap was maybe a couple thousand in a day, so selling things is my only chance to earn treasure outside of the Coliseum, which I generally don't have time for (and likes to lose connection constantly anyway). To have things to sell I gather, which makes for hungry dragons but some money in the bank that maybe I can use find a dragon with colors I want provided I save enough.

Which is my point. Unless you have a head start or a lot of free time then you probably won't get much of anywhere in Flight Rising. It's frustrating. Is it possible for me to get three imperials, should I decide I want them? Of course. But with my schedule it would take ages, and it's not worth it. I can't guarantee I'll still be here in a week because there's nothing to keep me here. I can't do anything for another half a month, why should I bother? And I know for a fact I'm not the only one in this situation, I'm just not going to start naming names.

@Supaslim

My first reaction was 'BAN you for it'? Then I read the thread and I must admit I let out a sigh of annoyance.

The point of that thread is for people who have multiple people on the same account. If you have three people who live together, share an IP, and proceed to pool all their money and do things together... then yes. Yes it is going to look like you're cheating and you're at risk of being banned. That's not a general condemnation of working together iwth other users.

I'm not at all understanding how the change to the treasure cap would reduce the amount of money you can gain. It actually increased the amount of money. It was a good thing, a net positive, unless you had plenty of time to hit the cap with.

I don't always hit the cap, but it's entirely possible to do so in two hours or less.

They reduced the multipliers and upped the cap, so people with less time on their hands have a harder time earning treasure (not saying it was intentional, just cause and effect).

Also, the way I read it, they are stating that pooling resources is suspicious activity and pretty much cheating. THe comment was in response to somebody who asked if they would get in trouble for pooling with friends, not about multiple accounts.

It's past 3am, I'm going to bed.

@supaslim Actually, even if you breed your dragons, you're still able to use them to fight in the coliseum.

I'm going to disagree with you though. I'm a new user, literally joined less than a week ago, but I've managed to get an Imperial for myself and a few starter dragons. I also got enough to buy the items from the Jubilee I missed last month. Granted it's a holiday weekend and I had time to kill, but it's actually surprisingly easy to earn 25k in half a hour or so, just play puzzles or the memory matching game while watching a movie or listening to the radio.

It's really what you put into it. I know people who play FR for only a little bit of their day and it's good enough for them - just long enough to gather, feed their dragons, and incubate their eggs. Sure they're not making a ton of treasure every day but they're having fun with the site by moving at their own pace.

@Supaslim

You are misinformed.

Previously, you got double your treasure for the first 25k, but could play beyond that point infinitely. This let you get as much treasure as you could put in time, and benefited those with lots of time.

Currently, you get double your treasure for the whole time, but have a hard cap of 75k. This prevents people from spending 10 hours playing puzzles.

The staff have said elsewhere that there wouldn't be an issue. People who are playing legitimately don't have anything to worry about.

Throwing in my agreement that Kickstarter was pretty useless, unless you shelled out for Imps. Those three days were spent in a pretty constant state of crashing, to be honest, and everything was buggy. Understandably, of course, and the devs were amazing about it - I don't think Thrage slept those three days much at all - but it really wasn't the advantage you think it is.

The game is slow for everyone. The real deciding factor is how much time you're willing to spend on it. 90 percent of my success, or what you could call that, has been because I've had a few lucky goes with getting eggs (though I'm paying for it now...) and strategic breeding. And a tendency to just put on movies and do easy puzzles at the same time.

It takes time to get an account rolling. That's true. Money does breed money. But that money doesn't come from a paltry three days of extra time (and not even that), or even from the extra time from the Beta players (the site was wiped pretty remarkably clean when we entered). It comes from meeting the demand with supply. The biggest financial aid is supposed to be breeding, and with 2 weeks between cycles it takes a while.

In short, I'm gunna tell you what everyone told me, and I hated them for it. But it was absolutely true.

Patience, Grasshopper.

I'm both kinda agreeing and disagreeing

The way treasure is, it IS based more for people whom have less things to do and more time to spend grinding games and coliseum or treasure and whatnot.

Heck, the other day I spent -8 hours- trying to reach cap on jigsaw, though about 20% of that time was being constantly buggered by family, it still holds, the treasure gaining on this site is -daunting- for a newbie, it takes about 64 games of jigsaw to reach hardcap.

Though once you get a few dragons it becomes easier to do things, IE sell babies, or have more for coliseum fights, heck I'm like 3-4 weeks in, and I'm getting along.... sorta fine!
