or seen her fight to clear the

Look down the barrel of my gun and one by one I'll name you"

Stonehewn Heart
Susan seems to actively dislike the Queen and regards Minstri with something like pity. That she is permitted to exist while being a harbinger of such heresy baffles many, mainly those dragons of lower rank, who do not fully understand the complexity of the relationships Susan maintains with the clan leaders.

She arrived some time before Sovri was Attained. She and Finnigan were quick to form a relationship with the king upon his arrival; it was as if they already knew him. Though she is close with Sovri, she seems to treat him with a measure of contempt as well.

When Susan first arrived in the clan, she was sequestered away, and not seen for almost a full season. The dragon who emerged from the depths of the lair was initially shy and uncertain, seemingly lost among the brutal tribe. However, she possessed a bottomless kindness, and gentleness, and was slowly accepted by those in her strange new home.

As she became more certain of herself, a deep strength began to shine through. She proved herself to possess an unwavering will and considerable combat prowess, but she is unlike any dragon of Plague and cares little for simple survival. Willing even to lay down her life should it be required to preserve others, and improve their well-being. She guides the clan to be generous, and extend their wealth and power to others in the Scarred Wasteland who may need it.

The Disgrace of Lavonas
There was a considerable upheaval when Susan's first children were hatched from their eggs. The entire process seemed to have been cursed with difficulty and misfortune, and it ended up driving a rift between Susan and Bard. Though they remain friends, his courtships ceased in the aftermath of the birth.
Susan had not the opportunity to even see her children, has she was taken by severe illness quickly after the eggs were laid, due to complications. Bard remained at her side while Eideif cared for the eggs. The high priest Lavonas was present when they hatched, and removed one of them from Eideif's care, as was normally customary to do, the firstborn being set to become Exalted. However, Eideif challenged his doing so, as Susan was not present, he did not feel it was appropriate to proceed. The Broodwatcher was violently overruled.
By the time Susan recovered, her firstborn was already gone. Eideif had not seen fit to go over Lavonas's head on the matter, and Bard also did not outrank the priest. Susan seemed to go quite mad, some of this still the fevers she had been ill with. She attacked the Imperial when she saw him, and Bard, though uncertain, followed his love into the fray. She ceased her attacks only when Bard was pinned by the giant and threatened with death.

The challenge of the priest did not go unnoticed, and those who favored Seikte over the Imperial were quick to leverage his mistakes against him, turning on him viciously, until Seikte offered a way for him to redeem himself, and sent him to the Plaguebringer.

Susan vanished for several weeks following the removal of Lavonas from the clan. When she returned, she was a little harder and less forgiving. She became more vocal to the goings on within the clan which displeased her. She has, perhaps as a result, never been close with any of her children.

Kindred Souls
Something of Susan's calm and quiet demeanor allowed her to become close with the judgemental Peryite. The old Skydancer has scant love for much, but it seems not all is dark within his heart. Though he seems an odd match for the generous and forgiving Susan. The two are scarcely seen to speak to each other, preferring instead to spend their time in warm and quiet company.

Susan is close friends with Finnigan and will spend her time with him while he is within the territory. She occasionally accompanies the caravan on journies as well. Otreus never fails to lend her support of Susan, when the pearl catcher finds herself in conflict with a clanmate.

She also holds high favor from the King, and the two seem to have long been friends.

Released Vessel
After the fall and return of the King Susan became withdrawn. She spoke with the King on many occasions following his return but became distant from all others, so that it was only he who knew what was troubling her.

She had come to understand the nature of the King and the manner of his summoning, and she'd had a hand in rehoming the broken vessel which had been brought to light with his departure. She also knew what that meant for her, for she had been summoned by the Queen in the same way. She did not fear the pain and elemental destruction which Sovri had faced... but she could not abide the idea that she was an usurper of someone else's life.

So she asked the King to undo the bindings on her soul, telling no one. Sovri smiled at her when she came with her request, as she did not even need to say it before he knew what she was after. "You will break Peryite's heart." He cautioned. "There is a good chance you will never be able to return to us if you do this."

"If I do not return, then this was never my home, just as this is not my body. It will be up to you to guide these dragons to Light, in spite of your sister. Do you think you can handle that without me?"

Sovri chuckled. "That's not a promise I can make here. It would be better for everyone if you could make your way back to us."

"How did you make it back?"

"I followed the road in a dream. This place has long been a dream for me."

"I will dream of Peryite, I'm sure. Is that enough to find the road?"

"It might be...."

Guiding Wind
Peryite's broken heart did not show, though in time of silent meditation his thoughts were consumed by the departure of his love, and those gentle coals did not grow cold. Indeed, it was a dim and soggy morning, the sky hovering indecisively between rain and sullen fog, when a stiff breeze, like warm breath, blew across those coals to ignite them.

The old Skydancer rose and crossed to the window, looking out over Clifftown from his high abode near the top of the Bonestrewn Crest. He slid out the gap and flew to the ground there, landing upon a windswept spire of bone. At its base, he found a huddled Pearlcatcher. Soft and glittering scales of pallid light broken and marred by raw, cursed burn scars. The swirling winds which surrounded her swept away the corrosive curse which might have prevented him from reaching out to her, and he could touch her. Gently he took her head in his hands and lifted her gaze to his, and he knew her. Carefully lifting her to her feet, he wrapped his wings around her and half carried her the last leg of her path to her rightful place in the Clan of Singing Blood.
