The Cavern Dwellers on the surface is a clan that’s little more than a band of raiders, bandits and thieves because that’s the only reason most other clans will actually see them. Either they’ve been raided by them or they’re trying to sell off the stolen wares for some more honourably acquired items. The slink through the woods into other territories or set up blocks with strategies to ensure their success. Being found in Shadow territory they’re accustomed to the dark and hiding for the right moments to take advantage of. Of course they could choose to be nicer to others but most have come to join the clan because they’ve decided they have no other choice.

Their lair is situated in an expansive mostly natural network of tunnels, the entrance is kept secret amongst members both current and former. Without prior knowledge the network is like a never ending labyrinth of almost complete darkness save for the mycelium of bioluminescent fungi that have broken through the stone, crystals and the lanterns that were placed by the clan members. However, it’s nothing compared to the sun’s light and some members have never lived a full day on the surface.

How the members have come to find this place varies, some were already using it as a hideout, some stumbled upon it, some were invited in and some were born in the depths. Either way, those that chose to stay have little choice but to make the caverns as comfortable as possible because of how the clan get’s most of it’s supplies. Sure they hunt and gather some stuff for themselves but a majority of it comes from the success of the raiders. It certainly started out as a necessary method, if they didn’t steal it they wouldn’t have enough to survive. It was much easier to start gathering by taking it from someone else who’d already done the work. However, they’re doing quite well now and could easily accomplish things without it but chose to continue it out of habit. By keeping the entrance and Cavern’s relatively secret they can hide their lair and protect it from those that may want vengeance.

They might not be the most honourable clan but they’re fair. They accept anyone and everyone willing to join. The clan leader isn’t one to pass up a chance to add skills and talents where they lie even from former enemies. Perhaps that’s what keeps the loyalties. However, ever member needs to somehow pull their weight in maintaining the clan wether it’s raiding or keeping the Cavern’s livable which may not be an easier job considering it is an underground cavern. There’s an unwritten code for the loyalty that’s followed. In order to keep it together everyone must agree to the nature of the clan however, everyone is welcome to leave at anytime but must swear to keeping the location of the lair and it’s entrance secret.
