Saving Phylos

It had been an accident that he even met her. Had his mentor even so much as mentioned to fact that his true father was coming to visit he would have taken a quick trip to the plaguelands. He had been quiet and going through Apollymi's old books trying to ignore his father's presence when a bright flash of color caught his eye.

He had stared at the little green eyed hatchling toddling around his father, she was clearly newly hatched, and as he watched as the hatchling became aware there was another dragon. She had bounced over to him and chirped at him shortly before attempting to climb him. Startled he allowed her before he realized his father was watching them. After hastily putting her down he watched the hatchling attempt to get his father's attention and before he knew it he was up and moving towards them.

They bargained for hours, Sangre arguing that he did not truly need the hatchling and Ahriman countering with the fact that the little one seemed to mean more to Sangre than he was saying. Eventually with some assistance from Omoikane and Apollymi they settled on a deal. In exchange, for Ahriman leaving the hatchling in Sangre's care, Sangre would pay a small fortune and procure a replacement for the hatchling. Additionally, Ahriman would not approach his daughter, as long as she remained in Sangre's care. Anything further would be negotiated at a later point in time.

Sangre stayed in his mentor's den until dark so he could take the hatchling to his den without being seen. He has to figure out how he's going to manage a hatchling he doesn't have much awareness of how to properly raise the little one. For now he'll just keep her safe and raise her the way he should have been raised. She'll need a name though. He likes the name .... Phylos.

It is odd how one so cruel has so many willing to undergo torture for even the slightest hint of affection. It is clear that he cares little for most dragons outside his Plague family and his two mates Laufeia and Fangxie.

He won't admit of course that they mean anything to him but it spares them the torment he is all too willing to rain down on the other members of the clan. Most keep away from him when it isn't necessary and it doesn't take too much for clan members to decide they would do a great deal to never have him come after him.

He manipulates a great deal of the clan without them being aware of it. Those that know him well know that the clan leaders never have to fear rebellion from him. The freedom he is allowed by the clan leaders is quite refreshing after all. Why would he ever work against a clan that allows him to torture as he pleases as long as no one dies. Keeping them alive is the fun part after all.

It's been rumored that Sangre is a great deal older than he appears and that he blazed a trail of destruction before he came to live in his first clan in the Scarred Wasteland. If the rumors hold any ounce of truth, many of the plague clans that vanished into thin air were destroyed under his claws. That shouldn't be possible though. He's only one dragon after all.
