Biography

Hemlock
Torn Anthropologist

Name: Hemlock
Gender: Female

Wind and Nature share a cordial relationship with one another, marked by their reliance on one another. It is the spring breezes that pull seeds from their mother pods and into the wilderness where they may populate freely. And it is the trees and natural barriers that prevent winds from becoming rowdy enough to fell even the strongest dergs. They need each other.

Who or what, then, does Hemlock need?

She spends her days wandering the Steppes and Gladeveins alike, returning to one or the other when fate pulls her in their direction. It seems that no matter what happens to this derg in her lifetime - picking up odd jobs as a courier, or joining a roving band of like-minded explorers - she finds herself at home in one or the other. The stories she has weaved throughout her journey are as jovial as she is. Hemlock has met dergs from countless walks of life and is pleased to record their stories within the parchment she carries in her satchel, which she then freely shares within local publications and scholar circles alike. The study of civilization seems to be her charge, and she fancies herself to be bit of an anthropologist of the Wind and Nature realms, studying their secrets and histories to be eventually compiled into a series of tomes - her life's work. She is generally well regarded within both realms and by academics. Her existence is one of intense exploration and barrier-pushing. What Wildclaw wouldn't appreciate a status of such esteem?

Still, she feels torn between the two, as if they have different fates in store for her. She doesn't intend to stick around long enough in one or the other to figure out whether this inclination is true or not, however.

Quote:
The Wildclaw pauses at the entrance to Mavenlark, making eye contact with you. She looks oddly familiar - though perhaps it's just her professorial look reminding you of your academic career. You ask her something, and she shuffles with her bag as she considers her response.

"I was actually on my way out, but if you'd like, I can answer your questions as I walk down the Spire. Care to join me?"
"There is no pursuit more noble than that of discovery."
