- Uh-oh, looks like this chef wandered a little too far from his home lair (@cnicht, 183384), and now he's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, he'd really appreciate it if you could just return him to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but he would be very grateful! -

-
Sal was quiet- in more ways than one. While he was not vocal as a child, unlike his two siblings, not every hatchling screamed at all odd hours. Instead, Sal was quiet both in volume and in apparant capacity. His siblings were mages, warriors, powerful guards and stealthy thieves. And he? He... was none of those things. He had nary a skill for even the simplest magic, and even the threat of a training blow had him skittering for cover.
-
He grew to adulthood, and still seemed to have nothing going for him. Others were off, serving the dieties, forging weapons, ferrying supplies and messages, healing, teaching, raising hatchlings, and yet- Yet Sal seemed to be fit for nothing. At least, until one of his clanmates incorrectly named a spice, which Sal quickly corrected. Scarily quickly. He then identified where it came from (The scarred wasteland, of all places!), how spicy it was, and what dishes it was best suited for.
-
Since then, Sal has honed his skills in spice, becoming a rather proficient identifier and trader.... of all manner of spices, those legal and.... less legal. Dinaer and Fayore were a bit... concerned about their child's unconventional occupation, but it wasn't like they could suggest another to him... Instead, they opted to send him off to another clan- Sal would learn a different way of life, as would a select heir from the fellow Light clan. Hopefully, his eager spirit would be... a bit more tempered. A bit less illegal. Something like that.
-
When Sal learned of his homeclan's betrayal of the alliance, and how they had cast out their charge and allowed them to meet an unkind fate, Sal decided he would leave the White tower. He could tell his presence strained those around him, constantly a reminder of hos own birthclan's treachery. He took this opportunity to shoot for his dreams and travel sorneith to experience spices and cuisine in it's native enviornment.
-
On Sal's adventure, he ran into a lovely Skydancer attempting to procure certain foods and spices for what seemed to be a lavished dinner party. He came to know her as Aqua, and dutifully requested to find what spices would do best himself, as well as cook for her clan as it came apparent to him there was no cook. Aqua was pretty relieved with this, and led Sal to Clan Starhowl where he found himself completely stunned by the sight of such gigantic dragons. Dragons that referred to themselves as gods, whether it was true or untrue.
-
The pressure was most certainly on as he aimed not to displease such dragons, quickly beginning work on making the food for the dinner. The variety of gods and goddesses all sat at a lengthy wooden table, but the rest of the room was well made and donned in silks and other fanciful items. Aqua seemed to be a servant, the only mortal he was able to pick out of the group of giants. However, the other Skydancer with the white wolf pelt was oddly small, as was the only Coatl; he supposed they were both simply young, but Aqua soon informed him the Skydancer was a half breed, which astonished him. As such hulking beasts, he wondered how one managed to bear children with a mortal..
-
He was soon finished and served the array of deities, allowing them to thoroughly enjoy the meal he'd cooked up for them. A few seemed like they had never had any kind of food like this, which once more left him quite surprised. He was relieved nonetheless as most, if not all seemed to enjoy it. After the pleasant evening, he knew he didn't quite fit among the others, and decided to continue his traveling to other clans. He bid Aqua farewell, and off he went.
-
After several days travel, he ended up encountering a small market, mostly following his nose, he landed. Every stand was filled to the brim with a large variety of wares from the softest silks to alchemical concoctions. But what he was interested in was a large spice stall practically overflowing with all kinds of fragrant herbs. Sal was smitten.

Being new to this region there were several he struggled and quite simply couldn't name and sal hadn't been happier! Finally, something new and exciting to add to his recipes! He excitedly turned to the vendor a small pink Tundra. Or were they purple? They starred at him dazed before breaking into a serene smile. "Ah, a true connoisseur! You smell like spices even I couldn't identify! So, what do you want?" Softly spoken and straight to the point, Sal wasn't a Tundra but he could smell a friend once he saw one.

For several hours he and the tundra, Venus he learnt, spoke. They shared many an interest. Both quiet in nature and interested in an art some may consider lesser, they got on wonderfully. By the time it grew dark, the market long since closed, Venus offered Sal a place to stay. Their clan, while they were still settling into their new home after a flight change, had plenty of space to spare and, after all, Venus wouldn't mind a friend to help feed some of the hungrier mouths in their clan. The statement was accompanied by a wink and a friendly nudge and Sal found himself sleepily agreeing to stay. If only for a little while. Then he would be off again, in search of good taste and maybe a bit of adventure along the way.
-
This windy plain really seemed... plain, Sal thought. Although he was sure there'd be dragon clans, travelers, markets, stands, any sign of LIFE... There was none. The wind blew as it probably always did but there was no living soul except him around to feel it.
Sal started feeling uneasy; this was a big part of the world, surely someone would have to be around?
As he landed, he called out while looking around. Anyone? Anywhere?
No answer came.
He shrugged his shoulders and went to grab some food for himself. Afterwards, still feeling utterly confused, he took to the skies once again and left this strange place.
Behind him, without Sal noticing, heads of various dragons started popping from their hideouts, behind the bushes or from the cliffs. They looked at him leave, but did not say a word.
-
He ran into a group of fae who came out of the rare during the trip.
They couldn't communicate perfectly with each other because they used different languages from sal, but they happily accompanied them for a while.
When it was time for them to say goodbye, one fae gave him a mith doll that looked like itself as a farewell gift.
He began his journey again with a very slight increase in luggage.
