Embassytown was definitely a cool concept. Is it odd to say that I rather wish a different author had written it instead? I feel like it might have done better by someone else, or maybe as a collaboration.

Also, if you like Mieville, can I ask if you've read any Thomas Ligotti or Jeff Vandermeer? Ligotti tends more towards horror, but he has a similar "weird" kind of vibe. Vandermeer's City of Saints and Madmen is excellent - it's disturbing and wonderful.

It's a pretty tough choice... the tone of This Census Taker really appealed to me, but it was rather weak on actual *story*. The Scar is definitely pretty high up there, too!
