Although they were new to Light, the clan that had come to call Solas their leader settled into their new home quickly. They were young, and the industry of Fire had not quite yet relaxed into the studious natures of Light.

Homes went up quickly among the ruins, with only a few stones surreptitiously taken from the old buildings, when no one was looking. The new buildings had many openings, since the weather in Light tended toward sun and a gentler warmth than the raw heat of the lava pools in their former home. Windows, doors and even some roofs were left open to the sun and sky, although the wiser among the clan kept heavy wooden shutters near at hand for those days when rain or wind made their presence known.

Of all of the clan, the Imperials settled into their new home the most easily, feeling drawn to the ruins and the gathering places where their ancestors were first formed by the Lightbringer. The Coatls, though they missed the heat and quiet of the Blacksand Annex, knew that their clan mates had never felt at home in the Ashfall Wastes. They were content to migrate back when the call of the flames became too much- it wasn’t that far, after all, just a short flight away. The Wildclaws and the Guardians were content wherever they found themselves, as long as their clan mates were safe and happy.

Despite what some of the naysayers had predicted, the transfer of power from Lochlani to Solas went smoothly- or as smoothly as such things could. Though she was still the spiritual mother of the clan, Lochlani was beginning to feel her age. She dreamed of basking in the sun, and already she could tell that Solas would be a good leader to the clan, despite not being born into it. The other dragons looked to him for guidance, and he rose to the challenge, proving Lochlani’s intuition to be correct. With the move to the new den, Lochlani left the leadership of the clan fully to Solas, enjoying her retirement in the sun.
