Pearl's time in the icy, cold forest not only terrified her, but gave her an incentive to live on, she knew then what her legacy must be. And so, as Pearl and Crystalwing grew close to each other, they both started sharing similar thoughts on their futures. They were to create a very large family, and be sure to feed them all equally, they would care for them and give them warmth in the icy forest.

Shortly after, Pearl was faced with a curse, given to her by a wild Winter Wolf who happened to see the fire as he was wandering the woods. He ran toward it with such speed that Pearl could only sheild Crystalwing, and not herself, and the Winter Wolf bit her and whispered words as he did so. Her curse was to be that she would never create a child who wasn't ghost-like and terrifying. She would only conceive children who had pale, white skin and white eyes, those who, if the dragons finally made it out of the forest, anyone would be terrified of.

So Pearl and Crystalwing decided never to leave the cold forest, and so her family started growing, the two dragons learned to love each other and care for eachother, just as they did their new children. And though their first children did not have the pale eyes which were suggested, this was because they were born near a river, and were given bright blue eyes for that. Her next children were born with the same white eyes, though, and even she was slightly scared of them.
