Abandoned by her parents and born into the midst of battle, the young Wildclaw knew nothing of family or friendship. She fought, and killed, and struggled to survive in a world that cared nothing for her. Wounded and cornered, she made no prayers as she fought a hopeless battle with her life as the prize. And yet, what awaited her was not death. Yellow wings arched tall and threatening and a grating hiss promising pain and fury saw the young Wildclaws assailant flee. The Wildclaw watched her saviour with caution, bowed her head, and collapsed into the abyss of unconsciousness. When she awoke, she promised her saviour her life, and in return was blessed with a name.

War was still a child when she gave her life to Lion, promising to protect the one who had saved her no matter the cost. As she grew up, War learnt that there could be more to life than simply fighting for survival, and grew very close to her miss-matched family, never once feeling out of place in her newfound Coatl-dominated clan. She travelled with them to the sun-bathed lands in the South, admiring the poetry in her leaving both the shadowed woods she was born in and her life of solitude, to step into the sunlight for the first time, There is a familiarity with battle that she cannot shake, and War spends her days fighting anything that might threaten her family with a kind of reckless abandon the purple Coatl she comes across can hardly believe. He issues her a warning:If you continue to fight like this, you will surely die. You dice with death and expect to always win. War responds with a foolish challenge: "I am more than willing to die. I'll prove to you I am strong enough to live." The Coatl bests her easily, and she bows her head to him:"I was wrong. Though as the victor it is your right to ask anything of me, if you would teach me to fight as you do I would be indebted to you forever." He looks down on the Wildclaw that prostrates herself before him, and accepts her: "I have never found a soul as brave or honest as yours. It would be my honour to teach you. I am Marius, a follower of the stars."
