Akatsuki no Yona spoilers!!!

______ Feared, hated, outcast from his whole village, even Shin-Ah's own mother was terrified of him, enough to commit suicide without even so much as naming him. The Seiryuu, as he was called by the village, was born with a great power, allowing him to see hundreds of miles away with everything still being as clear as if it were just a few feet in front of him. Those whose eyes met with his were greeted with a terrifying force of power, feeling as if they were being eaten alive and forced into being completely frozen from the fear, though using this power would often cause Shin-Ah to experience temporary paralysis. It was said that just one look could kill. From the moment he opened his eyes, he was called a cursed child and sent away to live alone, with only one other who shared his curse; a man named Ao. Ao cared for and acted as Shin-Ah's mentor, telling him to never use his power because of the backlash, and instead taught him sword fighting at only 4 years old. As time went on, Ao's powers began to fade, while Shin-Ah's only grew stronger, until Ao went completely blind, and died soon after.

______ Completely alone, Shin-Ah was forced to live in a secluded cave for 14 years, never to see another face besides that of a small friend he made; an adorable little squirrel (too kind for her own good), who he named Ao, in honor of his mentor. His village attempted to hide Shin-Ah's existence, as they had for all of the previous curse-holders, until one peculiar girl came looking for him, as she had heard of his curse in legend, and figured out what was going on. Accompanied by her childhood friend turned master fighter and another with a similar curse, this girl, Yona, forced her way through the village to find and save Shin-Ah, taking him (and Ao) away from the horrible place, and giving him a family who would love him. Shin-Ah told Yona of his past, and that he had no name, and so she gave him one; Shin-Ah. Moonlight.
