Nalani

The young dragon smiles as she relaxes on the lowest branch of a lone willow amidst a sea of flowers. Normally she would lay beneath the tree and lose herself in the songs of the birds and the whistling of the wind. Today, however seemed different to her, and that sensed confused her, she wasn't sure why.

She had strolled across the open field. Marveled at the delicate butterflies and the intricate flowers. Everything appeared to be as it should...yet somehow it was wrong. Still she smiled, and relaxed. Something always seemed to be wrong, there was always something that seemed to need her attention. She was a dragon, and this was her home. Others seemed to think that made her invincible. Still she wondered if they truly knew, if they truly understood. This was her home, and she would defend it with her dying breath. She would care for every flower, and every butterfly, but that was not all their was to her.

So many people seemed to overlook the simple fact that she was also a maiden. Was that it? Was that what bothered her? She couldn't decide...instead she sat in her tree and she watched and listed. She smile as the wind whistled and the flowers danced to to the song. Still...she couldn't think of what it was that bothered her so...and decided that in truth she did not care.
