Opalescence comes from a long line of Lightweaver priests and priestesses, dragons that consider themselves the original descendants of the natives of the Sunbeam Ruins. They are marked exactly like the Lightweaver herself and sport her whiskers and bioluminescence, a sign that their supposed heritage just may in fact be a truth. They live in a great temple in the Ruins and have tribute to them paid regularly, but trouble has fallen upon them and for a long time their numbers have been dwindling. Inbreeding has caused many of their eggs to not hatch or for the hatchlings within to die shortly after they are born. Despite this indicator that they must branch out now, the organization has done little to find new blood.

Opalescence was one of the few dragons born there healthy and is, for Light Priest standards, fairly young. As a young dragon she received a prophecy from a pilgrim of the Water Flight that she was to find love in the neighboring Shadow territory. Eager to cast off the duty of having to be mated to her own kin, Opalescence dreamed of one day sneaking away from the temple and into the Tangled Wood to find her True Love.

One clear moonlit night she was able to do just that, and after flying for as long as her tired wings would allow her she ended up in the Swamp. There she was attacked by Carnie, drug back to the Swamp to be tried by elders of the clan. Light Flight dragons were not a very welcome sight in the Swamp, particularly one of such high standing, and it was suspected that she was a spy. She was imprisoned in a vertical tunnel with a metal grate overhead, the bottom of the pit only just big enough for her to turn around in. Opal lamented the fact that she had made such a mistake and that she would never find her True Love. She cried out and her terrible sobs caused Twinkle much irritation.

When Saintsinew saw the pretty Skydancer in the Swamp's deep, dark prison he went berserk. He began desperately attempting to dig down to reach her, clawing and chewing at the grate to try and remove it. When he was discovered making an awful bloody mess of himself, the others of the Clan attempted to calm the guardian and lead him away but he would have none of it. For two days he attempted to reach her before finally Morogog decided to let the little skydancer out to meet him.

It was love at first sight. Opal found Saintsinew the most interesting and beautiful dragon that she had ever known and Saintsinew found Opal a calming and soothing presence. Opal has no desire to leave the Tangled Wood now that she is with her mate, and though the two have a strange relationship it seems neither of them could be any happier with anyone else.

4874608.png Orvil and Opal get along like two peas in a pod. Orvil might have a crush on her. It's pretty likely really. He's kind of stupidly upset about the whole Saintsinew thing.
