Tucked away in a labyrinth of mangroves lives a small colony of fae… The trees grow so tightly together that only narrow openings exist near the outermost edges of the grove, and the crowns of trees at its center are woven together to form a patchwork living ceiling, blocking many types of creatures larger than a fae. At the heart of the labyrinth stands a collection of trees that have become entwined over the years, the center of which has only been seen by Calanthe, and she does not share its secrets with anyone. In contrast, the exterior of the Labyrinth’s Heart shows signs of the clan’s affection with sap-thread runes glittering in the bark, each left behind by a grateful fae for their good fortune. In the trees surrounding the Heart are amber globes spun of sap-thread nestled in the upper branches. Most are only large enough to house two or three fae, or are several smaller globes woven together. Flower gardens are found throughout the lair, bringing bright splashes of color to an otherwise green - if drab - region, but also serve the purpose of enticing insects closer to fae mouths and stomachs. And while the lair is quite agreeable to faerish ideals and comforts, larger dragons would struggle to enjoy it without feeling cramped… assuming they could make it to the center of the labyrinth without leaving destruction in their wake. | ** |
