[Lore WIP] Diagnosing The Clot
Slinkysloth's Clan
Clan Info
"Ware those of unsound mind, lest you count yourself amongst them."
The Clot is little more than a congregation of dragons with variably aligning goals. Upon inclusion, dragons are given a new name; a trait of their personality, a defining color, or an otherwise simple word, as well as the designation of 'Coagulant.' Each dragon within The Clot carries a highly contagious infection, known by those that have cured it as Clot-Rage Fever, which is the primary marker of a Coagulant. Communication is primarily based on grunts, barks, growls, or other notably bestial sounds. All within The Clot are capable fighters, and all follow the same creed:
Blood for Mother.
Clot-Rage Fever is easily dealt with when contracted, but Coagulants that seek such help are vigorously "removed" from the clan's ranks. While called a fever, the actual cause of the disease is far more sinister; a parasitic organism that attaches itself to a dragon's frontal lobe, worming tendrils into key areas to gain finer control.
The infection's most notable symptoms are impairment of higher cognitive function, increased aggression, and a general numbness to pain. Dragons also suffer from periodic tremors and violent twitches, as well as a tendency to drool profusely. Not so much a symptom but a side effect, many dragons neglect to bathe, as such carrying with them an odorous stench.
Most of The Clot's hatchlings are born with the parasite, and while it can be cured, it is a formidable endeavor compared to standard contraction, spanning many weeks and requiring constant attention. Rarely, hatchlings emerge completely immune to Clot-Rage Fever, though they still exhibit slight twitches and a mild increase in pain tolerance. These hatchlings are abandoned by the clan, who find them unfit to serve as member or meal as they lack the fully developed parasite.
___
Afflicted with a secondary strain of Clot-Rage Fever, the Coalesced serve a wholly separate function within The Clot. They stand as lair guardians, and the parasite's last resort, ensuring that if all else perish, they will survive. Fewer in number than the Coagulants, they more than make up for it in wanton strength, as the parasite has superseded an infected dragon's mental limiters, allowing it to strike down opposition without regards to the damage it wreaks on its own body. Curiously, the Coalesced are solely female, as though the parasite attempts to draw on their maternal natures to keep it safe.
___
The Reverent are not directly integrated with The Clot, though they are generally praised and held in high standing. Most are ghastly creations of The Plaguebringer, deified as arbiters of Her will, while others are known to revel in chaos and destruction, fitting allies to the Coagulants.
___
Denied access to The Clot's lands for any number of reasons, The Refuse are dragons that have banded together in order to survive the bleakness of The Scarred Wasteland. Some are more closely interwoven than others, but all have been rejected, dismissed, or otherwise accosted by The Clot.

Also hi, unlike the Coagulants, I do not suffer from a madness inducing disease and am, in fact, a rather nifty person. o/
Dragons with familiars are here to stay, there is a 99% chance any others can be ignored. I should Coliseum them, but effort.
